Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Yet another (long-term, paying) user disappointed that the Android home screen widget has been removed. I used it every single day. Now I'm going to miss it every single day, and feel less good about Spotify, and wonder why this had to happen. I can't imagine any good reason for inconveniencing customers this way. Please return it. It's not a new idea. Just undoing what was a bad idea to begin with. Thanks.

I don't know why I'm bothering to post here as I can't name a single feature you have added as a result of community feedback but anyway...

This was something I used on a daily basis as other people have said. The notification bar is IN NO WAY a replacement for this feature. I can't resume songs quickly from the notification bar if they weren't already playing like I could with the widget.

Premium user here who utilizes this feature on a daily basis on my home screen. This is very disappointing, will be looking for other products that offer a widget now.

I will continue to post here until this issue is adequately addressed.

How does Spotify ignore such an outcry from once loyal, PAYING customers?  We all understand Capitalism and the almighty dollar rule.  What we don't understand is removing functionality that clearly people use.  If the widget was removed because of development issues or because it is not sound finanically, then I submit that your developers are not good nor is your handle on Economics.

Widget's are so simple to build and maintain it is laughable that this is being floated to us as the reason for the feature removal.  I love that Spotify is trying to convince us that this is in our best interests...that the notification bar is "good enough  Spotify's customer service compass is so tremendously EFFED up, I'd be shocked if any of the "suits" could navigate their way to the parking lot.

Can the widget be restored by downgrading Spotify? If someone has tested it out, can you let me know which version?

If they don't bring back the widget, then there's not really a point to me having a subscription. I use it constantly. If they ignore the feedback on this then it shows they really don't care what their customers want.

I've spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why the **bleep** the widget is not working any more. Eventually I've removed it only to find out that I can't add it back, because it's gone?! This is just plain stupid. If the widget is not back in one month I will cancel my subscription and move to another provider.

I pay for your service, so when i woke up this morning to find you took away one of the most useful festures, the widget, i have decided that i now need to contemplate whether it is worth paying for a service that doesnt listen to what their PAYING CUSTOMERS ask for, especially when it has no reason to be taken away to begin with. Very disappointing.
