[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this idea in the Community.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

updatedmike: when enough people leave they will...

Someone somewhere should be having a very uncomfortable meeting explaining the uptick in cancellations and user anger today.  If Spotify don't want my £120/yr that's fine.  Tidal are now getting twice that from me thanks to Spotify's actions and more importantly ATTITUDE.  If they'd said; "We hear you, we fooked up and we'll fix it..." they might've done enough damage control.

As it is - fark 'em, I've gone - along with many, many others it seems...

I use Spotify every single day at my business on a tablet. The widget is useful and simple and allows me to quickly skip through my lists while keeping my main screen up. I use it on my phone every day, especially driving. Why why why why would you remove it? Why?

Really? I shall vote for something that was good and that a absolutely unprofessional mind of you company decided to eliminate? Really unbelievabel... I´m a fan of professional management and custumer awareness, for this reason i announced my subscription.

Uninstalling and finding another music subscription service. If you're not going to be friendly to your users, your users aren't going to be friendly to you. I hope the app gets review-brigaded with 1 star reviews in the Play Store.

Beyond stupid. I hope whoever made this decision to get rid of the widget gets in a car accident on their way home from work, like some users may, because now it is such a pain in the **bleep** to use the app

I have a locked down tablet in which I can't swipe down to reveal the notification panel.

Now I can't skip songs on it without launching the app. So frustrating.

Also on my Note 9 the lock screen functions don't work even after app re-installation.

I pay $17.99 per month and now it's a hassle to skip songs. Time to trial another streaming service to see if they can help me make a switch.

That widget was one of my favorite features, as the notification always tends to disappear and opening the app and wait **bleep** couple seconds before it loads just to resume music is silly. Why delete something that works?

I've wasted 20 minutes trying to bring it back without finding it. Made a Google search to see if I was the only one with that "bug". I was **bleep** off when I found out I was removed on purpose by a  company I pay monthly.  Seriously what a dumb idea.

I still raging inside. If I wan't to waste my time I **bleep** off or lay on my back day dreaming. Fiddling in Android settings isn't a fun task.

Whoever pitched that idea should be jailed for all the time users wasted on that.

I can imagine what happened in the board meeting when this was decided

Executive 1: "I've got a great idea! Let's make our service more difficult and inconvenient to use. People will love it!"

Executive 2: "What an amazing idea! But how will we implement it?"

Chairman: "Why don't we eliminate the widget? It's extremely convenient and everyone uses it."

*Entire boardroom applauds uproariously*

Bring back the widget please!
