[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

Been using the widget literally everyday on all my Android devices for years, such a nice looking and convenient thing on my desktop. Seems Spotify has gone lame again with an update, which seems to happen more and more to be honest

 

BTW, the drop-down notification workaround doesn't work as Android would kill that notification after some time anyway. One of the many reasons I was using the widget.

 

Now be nice for once and bring the **bleep** thing back.

Guys what are you doing? The widget worked fine. Why would you remove it and THEN make us upvote it as an IDEA which would only be considered if this IDEA got enough upvote? 

Who thought that this would be a good idea? Why didn't you ask your users first if they want/use it before making this decision? 

Honestly I've never seen this be done before. Very sad how this has been handled.

We alreay had this.  Just put it back.  53 pages of comments (on the other thread) in the space of two days all saying the same thing must surely show you that people actually liked and used this feature, no?

I think Spotify need to check themselves. We are paying users and you have removed a feature that is clearly used by thousands daily. It took prime position on my home screen and removing it is now making me consider leaving for another service. I do hope you see sense soon and reinstate the widget.

Unless there is an ulterior motive to this, the non-reason given for removing this feature boggles the mind. Do you enjoy annoying your paying customers?

I used this feature every day as I have too many notifications sometimes and I don't really like to be dropping down the status bar when I already had a button for play or next on the home screen. Please bring back the widget!

Like other users have mentioned, i will likely cancel my membership and turn to one of the many competitors such as SoundCloud, Google music, or apple music, if the widget is not reinstated by my next billing cycle. You may not care about these comments, but hopefully a drop in active subscribers will help

This is the worse desicion ever, the widget allows a quick and easy access to the app.

I'm so going to unsubscribed. Its sad as I have been a long customer.
