[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

I don't know who came up with this idea, but they obviously are not in touch with reality. They probably do not use Spotify like the rest of us. The widget was a HUGE part of my everyday life. I'm listening to something on Spotify pretty much 24/7. The fact that you removed this convenient tool was a terrible move and looks horrible on the company. Even the lesser known, or lesser quality music streaming services still have widgets, why? Because this is what people want!!! If this were the case when I first subscribed to Spotify, I would have never joined. And if it doesn't come back, I will take my family plan somewhere else. This is just insane. Who tf thought this was a good idea??? Whoever it is should be fired. I have been paying for Spotify for years! Why would you go backwards and degrade your product? It makes no sense at all.

"How many horrible reviews do you need to realize you messed up? Simple thing, fix it and save all these loyal customers from hating you. SO. SIMPLE. Literally zero reason for this to be a topic  I read about on Digital Music News. 

 

A "Not Right Now Issue" is the lamest answer I've heard. It clearly is a "Right Now Issue", cause you have 57 pages of comments from people you **bleep** off."

it's time to change to Deezer or Tidal... so much time of passion with Spotify but my love for it is broken and it's not my fault. I am feeling betrayed.

Nice way to lose clients, Spotify. The competition is intense out here. There are so many services that offer the same exact thing for the same exact price. I chose Spotify because it was well-established and reliavre. Now you removed a feature I used everyday. Your concurrents have a widget option, you don't anymore. I don't understand why I'd keep my buisness with you anymore. It was fun while it lasted

I absolutely cannot see any benefit to removing a feature. Android is the most used operating system worldwide. By doing this you are making a large portion of your biggest demographic upset. Spotify is absolutely failing on the front of usibility for Android users now. Not a smart move if you ask me..

I normally don't comment online...but now i have to. What a bad decision to remove the widget. It was so convenient. 

 

Why wouldn't spotify firts ask their - ....how many subscribers? - if THEY think it's a good idea to remove the widget... 

 

Bad decision, worse customer satisfaction, more unhappy customers.  The only good thing is that Spotify has got the power to fix it... just by ticking a box !

 

Please do it Spotify!

My Question or Issue

Since the last update, the widget disappear and I don't find in adding widgets section

You know for a couple of days I've been cursing out ppl on droid forums and Samsung forums cause I thought they got rid of the spotify widget. But it seems I was fling my expletives at the wrong people. What is actually the matter with spotify? Why would you take the widget away? Because you want me to stay parked in the app, or you want me to rely on the thing that pops up in the notifications bar and disappears when ever your phone auto pauses for let's say a call. Idk what drugs you guys were on when you made that decision but I think me and my family are going to cancel our subscriptions and go for literally any other music app that respects me enough to have a widget. If I didnt like / want widgets I'd just go with an iphone.

Seriously?! You take away a feature (with no real warning BTW, it just stopped working on and a grey box appeared on my homepage today - I had to google it to make sure this wasn't some kind of issue with my phone's recent update) that worked fine and that a lot of people used, and then you say to use a different, less flexibile feature that is buggy and useful in less situations? wth Spotify?  Please undo this, I'm extremely disappointed. EDIT: and one more thing - I had to click through god knows how many pages to find this feature voting thing, you buried the lede to hide that people are very unhappy, and this voting page should be waaay easier to find so people can voice their dissatisfaction.
