[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

You guys are terrible at removing features, was it really such a big resource drain on your development team that you had to retire it? It's ridiculous to suggest that this needs to go through this useless "idea exchange" system where none of the feedback from users is taken on board. Sorry Spotify but you somehow manage to make your product worse and worse everyday.

It seems absurd to remove the widget. Obviously it was extremely popular and i really can't believe it took many resources to maintain.

 

Please listen to your customers and bring it back.

Dear Spotify, thanks for remove widget. I must tried Deezer and yes. It's better. Widget(3x), lyrics so nice for me. Thanks and I stopping my subscription. Thanks for open my eyes!

I didn't use this to control music, I used it to display the album artwork on my homescreen (with a resized widget in Nova Launcher).

Notifications / lockscreen bits don't replace that.

Seriously? At any time, since Winamp in the late 90's, I'm able to perform the most basic actions of a music player by just one click/touch directly on my actual taskbar/home screen. And now you are telling me, that an additional swipe is an improvement?

I don't usually comment online but this is plain ridiculous. I don't see why removing a feature, which every other streaming app manages to support, could even be considered by your dev team. 

There better be an 'update' soon to fix this stupidity.

Agreed. Definitely a downgrade in functionality. Not everyone can afford an iphone. No need to make your android functionality crappier to make it match iphone.
