Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Who on earth thought feature removal was a good idea? YouTube Music doesn't have a widget was the only thing that brought me back to Spotify, I'm subscribing to YouTube Music out of spite now.

For everyone waiting for Spotify to bring back the feature, there's a free app called KWGT on the play store, and it allows you to build custom widgets.

This one I made has a progress bar and can tap to open whatever app is playing music (not just Spotify, it's universal), so if anyone winds up jumping ship it'll still work, but if not its a workaround for people still using Spotify. I hope this helps 🙂

I am really disappointed with the non-existent communication from Spotify on this issue.

Luckily our yearly family subscription was due to renew today and I was able to cancel it just in time. Migration to Tidal was very easy using this free tool: https://www.tunemymusic.com/Spotify-to-TIDAL.php Just be sure to disconnect the service again after using it.

Happy to have lost only a few obscure songs that are not available on Tidal yet (mostly sea chanties 😄 ) YouTube will do just fine for that. I was annoyed with several Spotify UX decisions and client problems over the last couple of months. This whole fiasko made me take time to evaluate other Streaming services and I am just happy that I have found a service that works as expected on all of my devices now. Thank you!

You have way too many clients. They enjoyed way too much the widget as I did. I was too handy. It had to be stoped.

I use facial recognition to unlock my Android phone. The widget was the first thing I would see just by looking at my phone. Something tells me that this was a decision by upper management and not the actual Developers. Does anyone know if Apple music has a widget? I'm thinking of switching... definitely going to cancel my family plan.

I'm ending my subscription due to this. Jumping ship to amazon Music, thankfully their widget still works.

Whoever made this decision must be so dense that light bends around them. Put them on the chopping block instead. 🙄

I don't see the actual reasoning to removing this, even more frustrating is when so many people ask for it back you have the nerve to mark it as "not right now" please add the widget back.

I use the widget every day. it was great. very annoying now when I want to restart a song, pause or forward to the next one. makes no sense to get rid of it.

can you tell me why you got rid of it?
