[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

Since last night when I first posted I have checked out the other streaming services. It looks like Deezer is the best option for me. I can't believe I had never heard of this service nor checked it out. I actually prefer the mobile layout to Spotify. They have all of the artists I listen to. Sorry Spotify, I gotta go after all these years as a paid subscriber. They have a widget on my home screen which is essential to my listening habits.

Ok "Not for now" maybe you would listen your community when more than 10k people shut down the subscriptions, how you would explain that to your investors, but well you don't read this, so not my problem anymore, you can put in your resumes i used to work in spotify until we shut down the widget and the actions went down, and we were fired

This is a pretty big loss for me. I do see Amazon Music and Google still have their widget.

Wait, so now you're just flat out deleting posts as "spam" that voice dissatisfaction?

All I did was ask if you're attempting to run an airline now based on your recent actions and choice to ignore customer feedback. And for this I get marked "spam" and my post deleted... ? 

That says all I need to know. 

 

Now I truly am gone without delay. Hope you enjoyed the money I've paid you for YEARS, Spotify as there won't be anymore of it.

Guess I'll unsub and go to pandora till they reintroduce the most used part of their app back.

Please bring the widget back. Wasn't main reasons to choose Spotify over competitors but also a reason to choose Android in general.

First they give us that shitty lyrics service and now they take away our widget, I really don't know what I'm paying for anymore.

Setting my Spotify subscription to "Not Right Now" as Spotify does not care what their paying customers want.. I'm sure this will effect your client base and standing as a relevant music streaming service

What is the actual point of removing this? What benefit does Spotify get by removing this? It's absolutely pointless and should just be put back on. 

Spotify is just removing useful features for no reason what so ever. Widgets gone, ability to swipe down to search playlists is gone, what's next? The ability to play music, cos that's the way they are heading. 

People like an app to have convenience and easy navigation, and you're just adding gestures and extra taps to things that don't need it. Sort it out.
