Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Getting rid of my widget now makes me have to maneuver on my phone while driving to change songs whereas before I could just fingerprint into my main screen and hit the widget without looking. Thank you for making my driving experience more dangerous. I am seriously considering cancelling my service for a second time-- you have fewer songs, many from my old playlist are gone, and now you're putting the axe to perfectly working features of the app, against the wishes of your consumers. I don't know who is making these plans in your company but they are either stupid or out of touch, and you're likely to lose my business unless my widget returns.

Lol, just subscribed to spotify family, 2 weeks later you remove the widget?

Guess I will move to Deezer.

My subscription runs out on 9/2 and if my widget hasn't returned by then my business NEVER will.

I don't understand why would you remove widgets that were working great and were super handy when listening to the music on Spotify. Unless you don't really care about the users. Fiddling between the apps just to check or change a song is not a good experience at all. Super disappointing move, Spotify!!!!

Okay, downloaded the previous version of Spotify app from an APK mirror site (the version from May) - ain't that a **bleep**? Turned off auto-updating of the app in Play Store. My widget is now restored and working. Spotify still appears on a list of pending updates but I have the APK so I can do this again if necessary. I'll be swearing off updates to Spotify until you bring back the widget or break the older version (I'd advise you not to do that).

Screw that, if that don't have the cajones to put it back themselves, I'm
not searching for a previous version, just going to cancel and go to Play
Music. They HAVE a widget, and I highly doubt . they're gonna take it
after this fiasco. Spotify's new name is SNAFU, Situation Normal All,
Fcked Up. Only a matter of time before they take another beloved feature
away, and I'm not waiting around.

All these, I just found a previous version and turned update off, NEWS FLASH, they don't care about you, they only want the monthly fee.  You're burying your head in the sand.  They don't care enough to put the widget back, a piece of code they already have and very easily reinstated feature and they don't care enough to put it back.  This should be telling you something....  ☮️ I'm out

How was removing the widget ever a needed thing to do. U are suppose to improve your service, not make it worse . This is something I use everyday. Are u trying to make me switch to Google music ?

Bring back the android widget! I use[d] it every time I use[d] Spotify, multiple times daily.
