[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

I used this feature every day. Without it Spotify is a pain. Considering other options. Will be leaving for a competitors service if there is no commitment to this bread and butter feature.

Just putting the request on hold because there are no plans to bring the widget back, means Spotify does not listen to their own users. Spotify is following it's own plans, regardless of what customers want. Just a widget showing the current song, a pause, previous and next button is not that complicated!

For two of six family members this is a dealbreaker and if Spotify is not changing plans, we will go over to Tidal or Deezer.

FFS Spotify... Wake up and listen to your paying customers. 

 

Can't you see that the decision to remove the widget is far from popular. Over 12k votes and 108 pages of comments should be telling you something.

 

Re-instate the widget or risk losing customers.... It's that simple

I'm trying tidal HiFi. They have a widget and an app that imports Spotify
playlists. They also don't seem to have the max song limit which drove me
up a wall. Cost more but sounds better.

You had over a week to bring the feature back but you didnt. I've worked in the software industry for over a decade, ever heard of a roll back? No well I guess it's ok. I cancelled my subscription anyway. Seeing as you dont listen to your users and over 12k people have told you this was a dumb move.

Frustrated that this was taken away.  Have had to resort to 3rd party work arounds in order to get this basic functionality back.

Everyday I go to work, open my phone's home screen and ask myself: WHERE IS MY WIDGET! Come on Spotify, step it up.
