Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Anyone knows a good service alternative? I'm not against using google but I would like to know what else is on the market. I'd like to continue supporting my favorite artists if I can do it the right way. 

The widget is a must have for me, it's a basic feature of any media player and the centerpiece of my homescreen.

Perhaps there's a way to downgrade the app and get it back? Seeing what they are doing with the so called upgrades I really won't be missing anything.

Also spotify, you could say a bit more to why you took this from us, asked us to vote and then inmediatly ignored the vote with another generic response that says nothing with a lot of words, seems like quite a rude thing to do.

Due to widget being gone, I am using another app for music where widget is available.

Please bring back the widget for user easy access and user satisfaction. For those who support no widget, they can always opt to not put it on the homescreen. 

Customer satisfaction and options should be reinstated given so many people has voiced their concern. Looking at the comments, I will know a standard reply will be given (if one is given at all), so please don't bother to reply back.

I want the widget back, AND I want to keep the swipe down screen. Depending on what I am doing BOTH are perfect. 
The widget is perfect to use while driving while my phone is in a holder on the dash, easy to get to don't need to find a small icon. The swipe down feature is perfect for when I am in another app but listening to music and want to change the song. 

I remember when both exhisted... go back to that.

No widget, then I am going to YouTube Premium, which is better, and doesn't have a widget, but it will eventually get all the best parts of Google Play Music, including a widget. It's called forward thinking.

Will "spotwidget" start spotify itself in background if it is not running?

If Spotify is not running in the background, SpotWidget will launch Spotify in foreground for you to 'play', once that is done, the widget will function as the classic one.

You guys are destroying a almost perfect app. You need to go to the hospital. It's insane what you have done to destroy the experience of the app.

What sort of User Experience is Spotify trying to pull? This one widget was the most useful thing I used for the app and they don't even listen to the mass of users. Like seriously, who's bright idea was it to remove this? Even Apple music has a widget and they're notorious for killing features. Can't really justify a premium account when they go around removing useful features.

Add me to the list that will be canceling a family subscription if this functionality isn't returned to the platform.

There is no logical reason to remove functionality that both samsungs built in media player, and Pandora offer, from this platform unless you want to generate more ad revenue.

Clearly you've underestimated how stupid this choice was and the person/group in charge of this choice should be sh it canned.
