Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

People, there are services out there to help you move from one streaming service to another. Don't let Spotify hold you hostage. If they take away key features, vote with your wallet. There are other services that are just as good, if not better now, than Spotify.

You're totally right. I'm probably going to cancel my Family plan on move
to something else ... I just really like Spotify 😞

I hear you!! I do. This is the third time I've moved services. Spotify was where streaming really took off, but man they've been really dropping the ball. Instead of getting better, they're removing features to get people who pay to open the app and see advertising. I can't get on board with that. They've gotten too big for their pants. 

I do feel your pain, man. It sucks 😞 I semi-miss the days of when you just had MP3s on your computer... but obviously that wasn't near as accessable as this.

While looking at the "Related Ideas" section, I spotted something noteworthy. 1 thread has >30x the likes of all the other threads, maybe that's the idea that Spotify should implement. Hey wait, what do ya know, that's this thread. Who'd have thought, folks would like a widget for their favourite music player? :

In all seriousness, Spotify Communities team, escalate this, get this "bug" fixed or me and many other users in this thread are going to vote with our wallets. My monthly sub fee went out last week before I updated to this callamity regression version (which also added nothing remotely useful), I most definitely will not be renewing next month if I do not see some commitment from the team to fix this very flawed decision.

It's really annoying now without the widget. No brain cell of me can understand why you would ever remove it and I think it's just the most ridiculous choice. It makes the app just more annoying to use especially for someone like me with bad motor control. The widget made it all just a little bit easier. Since now its only more steps and smaller buttons in the drop down menu. Instead of the fatter ones in the widget. I hope one day it will be brought back.

This is one of those classic "why fix something that isnt broken" cases.

Gotta say the "Not Right Now" status is pretty insulting. Your paid users want the dag barned widget back, GIVE IT BACK!!!! Please.

The removal of the widget is absolute**bleep**! There's no reason why this should have happened. I've been a dedicated Spotify user for many years. Why take it away now all of a sudden? I know this may seem like a trivial thing but if there's enough people to complain about it then you should bring it back! How hard could it possibly be?
