[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

yeah i'm not trying to pay $2.00 for a widget, also that's more downloaded information.. if you need the money that bad, make spotify go up $.25 or something small per month... shouldn't be charged just to use a widget IMO... I don't want to download ANOTHER app just for that... go back to the way it was...

The "spotwidget" widget isn't from Spotify - so your $2 isn't going to
Spotify for it, it's going to a third-party developer.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not willing to pay extra for
functionality that used to be included. That sets a bad precedent for
Spotify to kill features and then charge us to add them back in.

I say Spotify should remove the search feature! Then we can have someone make a third party app to search for songs! #Spotify2020

This is a sad day...Truly... the home screen widget was a very important feature. The reason for its disappearance is incomprehensible. I will unfortunately be canceling my subscription, after nearly a decade of loyal listening. 😢

Tidal has officially taken spotify's place can not believe they would remove features in such a competitive market...

Be sure to voice your displeasure on this topic in a more publicly visible place. Tag @spotifycares on twitter and use #spotifydoesntcare to make it trend, don't be afraid to tag a few news outlets as well. 😉

 

As long as the complaints are only here, the only people who see it are those who are already angry.

Losing the widget is a really frustrating development. I resisted buying into any kind of music streaming service for a long time and finally went with Spotify. Since i signed up for premium I have lost access to the app on older devices, lost it on Roku for a long time while it was in "redevelopment" and now this. It may just be time to put the service on the backburner and find something else that actually works on things.
