[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

This might actually break spotify. This makes the app really dificult to use.

I'll cancel my Spotify Premium subscription because of the removal of the widget.

The android widget is one of just a few reasons I subscribe to Spotify. If Youtube Music comes out with a widget, that plus youtube without ads will be enough for me to switch

Please give a proper explanation of why the widget cant come back? It wasnt broken?

Just canceled my premium. I'll be looking at alternatives. Bring back the widget, and perhaps we'll meet again, Spotify...

 

The reason: My notification area is flooded already, and being forced to move one more app there entirely is not my idea of a good solution. I already have stuff like VPN, SmartThings, Caller ID etc filling that spot even without any actual notifications!

You took something that worked perfectly well and made it inconvenient for me a family plan paying subscriber. So now I have to open the spotify app every time! When I am constant clearing my notifications were can easily press play to continue playing my playlist. Spotify you really out did your self! Such BS!

This sucks! I use that widget all the time!! Please bring it back. Otherwise, I'll have to seriously consider alternatives.

If you are going to remove basic features from a Music app then atleast add an announcement in the app for the users who were using it. So that I don't have to find it from a site like Verge. Because the above screenshot is all I get from my once often used widget.
