[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this idea in the Community.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

Please bring it back!!!

How even thought of removing it!!!

This is completely ridiculous.  I don't know who at Spotify made the decision to remove a tool that is very useful for the subscribers of the Spotify service, but they should be fired immediately.  This is not the way to run a successful business.  Successful businesses pursue ways to improve the experience for their customers.  Spotify seems to be pursuing a less enjoyable experience for their customers.  This is like going to your favorite restaurant only to be told that they will no longer be furnishing utensils.  I for one will be looking for an alternative streaming service.

What happend to the Spotify Widget?? Somewhere in a Cloud....

Deezer love your Widget!

Google Music Player Love your Widget!

SoundCloud Love you Widget!

Pandora Love your Widget!

Guess Spotify will loose a loyal customer soon....

worst "enhancement" ever to remove the widget.  No reason to use Spotify anymore when EVERY OTHER streaming service has a widget on Android.   Spotify has been going down hill for months, looks like time to jump ship. Thanks for ruining what was a good experience.  And moving the idea to not right now is basically saying, hey users we really don't care at all what you like and we will do whatever we feel like and not in business to help our customers.  If I did something like this at my job i would probably get fired.  Thanks for nothing spotify and just like told us all to kick rocks while removing the widget, I want to say kick rocks to you and your department and the "product manager/owner" role for this.  Hope your yearly review highlights big misses like this and lost of subscribers to it.

If this is to get non-premium users in front of your ads, at least offer the widget as a PREMIUM-ONLY feature.  You're screwing your paying customers with this.

And here I am just extended my subscription to family plan. Spotify,  can you just reinstate the widget in the next update instead of shelving it permanently. It really helps me especially when I'm driving.

'Not right now' ... AKA #SpotifyDoesntCare

It would be great if you were responsive to your customers request, showing that you value your customers, by bringing back the widget. It's clearly something many Spotify users enjoy and find useful, myself included. Simply saying you're shelving this idea as "Not right now" seems like a poor way to handle things with your users. If there's a reason you can't offer the widget, say that; if it's just that you all have an idea that users don't need it, then listen to us when we tell you we tell you we do.

I'm curious about the prioritization logic of Spotify.

9th request in the platform within 2 days and the only reply is.. not in the priority list.. first you remove something apparently appreciated, then a lame response.. was expecting better.

Perhaps we should all cancel the paid subscription and check if this would push it up in the priory list

I'm really disappointed you guys just took something away from the spotify experience, that is not your MO. what is having a widget costing you? Maybe you find it redundant but Is it not clear your users find it very convenient and satisfying? This is frustrating & unnecessary
