[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

It is totally F'd up to have to install a 3rd party app just to add a
widget to a homescreen...something that should never have been taken away
to begin with

I just reverted to the previous Version and disabled autoupdates. Check the Spotify Reddit for a how to.

 

ATM i give spotify some Weeks to resolve this issue, after that i will cancel my Family subscription.

It's convenient you guys are locking down everything to do with this widget with all of the backlash you're experiencing. 

I cannot believe you would stick to your guns of we're not doing a darned thing about it despite the fact that obviously people use this option. I use this option many many times a day and find it far more convient than opening the app itself.  I really cannot believe you would remove a widget. WHY would you make it more difficult for us to utilize this on purpose?  It is obviously on purpose. Are you trying to go under? Are you trying to bury yourself? I cannot imagine any other reason to make it MORE difficult for your customers to use. Why am I paying for a service that's going to continue to make it harder for me to use?  

I am sincerely considering getting rid of Spotify if this is the direction you're going...making things more difficult and not listening to your customers. How about you take this new idea "Listen to your customers. Stop making things more difficult to use"

Not sure why this would be entered in as a feature request, the widget was an option for a long time. This was a feature I used every day as did a large group of other Android phone users. Whoever decided to pull this feature made a very shortsighted and dumb decision, it was a very useful feature and made controlling the music simple. Please add this functionality back to Spotify.

I used the widget daily and waaaaay more than the spotify controls in the notification bar. Would love if this feature could come back.

Seriously no widget ?? What genius thought of removing features from a competitive market. I used that widget everyday...I am seriously reconsidering alternatives to**bleep**. Really good job Spotify team...

Sounds logical, sadly, and yet another good reason to stay away from Spotify if this isn't fixed.
