[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Well Spotify..you just nailed the coffin shut on our using your service by removing the widget. There are lots of other music services with great Android widgets! What a stupid decision.

Well I tried YouTube music, Deezer, and a few others.

I like YouTube music but no widget so it's out. However the videos keep it in the running.

Deezer is basically a spotify clone except it has a widget and I bet they would love new customers. 

Google play is kinda weak, but again has a widjet.

 So my money will be moving before the next billing cycle if my widget is not back.

I haven't yet seen an explanation on why the widget was removed.  It always worked well and I can't imagine it takes that much manpower to upkeep on a business end (but maybe I'm wrong).  I'd appreciate a quality explanation as to why this decision was made.  Just saying, "we take retiring features seriously" doesnt do it justice.  As an android user I love the freedom to customize my screen in a way that feels intuitive and personal.

The widget was one of the best things about the app. Please bring it back. 

I made this community profile to add this comment. That is how strongly i feel about the loss of functionality. I like spotify as a service and i am so used to using the widget to access it. I really do hope that you bring it back soon.

Why take away something so simple and so useful? Like seriously didn't it take at least one line of code to remove it in the update? Why waste the effort! You guys,

hello we use widgets, they are easy and help make our phones personalized to us! Our widgets are our identity and you guys removed it for seemingly no reason other than " you wanted to". Seriously come on I'm seriously considering going back to Pandora and before I get the mellow drama card played I just want everyone to know that widgets are important to me because I am blind to everything but color (everything is blurry all the time glasses/contacts/surgery cannot correct and my wife is currently typing what I am saying) and the widgets literally help me to use my phone! That's why they are important. Have a great day!

So let me guet this straight... 

You remove a feature people like, people guet angry. 

You give no reason as to why you removed it but direct us to vote here if we wanted it back.

Just putting this out there, but while exploring competitors' products, I realized just how badly Spotify runs. I mean, apart from the fact that Spotify keeps removing useful features for no reason, it just runs like garbage.

Do yourselves a favor, and jump ship. It's not going to get any better.
