[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

Just upgraded my old Ipad to a Samsung Tab3, having the same issue, unable to rearrange order of songs in a playlist on an android system. This option is available on my Ipad. Just spoke to Tabitha C via Spotify chat and it has been suggested everyone who would like this features available on mobile devices put their request in via this site. Bit disappointed, but still a great service.

Ciao, could you implemet the option to rearrange the tracks within a playlist using an android device?

Grazie

so basic!!! solve this otherwise my option is to quit premium and use other alternatives instead...

This is an incredible stupid oversight. One of the most important thing you can do when making playlists  or curating songs is to rearrange the songs in an order that makes sense.

Seriously **bleep**?

Tweeted to Spotify doesn't care on Twitter and the CEO. Won't go anywhere. By now they just have an algorithm responding. "hey, don't lose heart" or "we have sent that to our team and don't have any information right now." All lies and canned responses...

@Eldsjal Can we just admit that Spotify does not want Android users to be able to rearrange songs on a play list as iOS users can. Some sort of deal with Apple? Not an oversight after 4 years. We CAN handle the truth!

Hi guys, don't lose heart. Join reddit and the forum r/Spotifydoesntcare

The more people post there, the more public this seemingly minor issue becomes. At worst, we'll get a decent reason why!

I guess only thing that would force their hand is if everyone simply cancelled premium service and on cancellation sited this as the reason.  If enough people did it they would have little choice but to add it or say goodbye to at least half their subscribers (if most or all android users simply protested).

Leaves a wide open opportunity for another player to come in and steal their thunder.  Google should setup a "move to Google Music" program and promotion.  Import all your songs and playlists.  give you 6 months free if you move from Spotify.  Make it painless to move over for any one who wants to.  Promote in marketing material the ability to do everything spotify offers plus the ability to actually arrange your own playlist!

It is a complete joke that this isn't included as standard. Especially since it's included for Apple devices..... are we lesser users???

I can't believe we actually have to ask for this

@cevans411 Exactly, there are +70 pages with several theories about why this is happening 🙂

It is clear now that,  no matter the reason why, we should bring this issue outside this SP forum, in reddit for example.

IMHO this bug passed the software quality controls years ago because technically is not a bug... It's the lack of a basic feature.

It is already implemented on the queue list in the app so it's not that the Android developers don't know how to do it. It's probably that, among other reasons,  it is too late to acknowledge that such a basic feature its missing.

I'll fire the entire dev team if I find that i.e. "The player won't Play". But since reorder songs seems to be a feature most people don't use the is not a priority anymore.

Why it is implemente on every other platform and not in Android? I don't know, I didn't tried to complain on Google app because they won't shut down an app for lack of features 🙂

We tried every single way to tell SP this is wrong, tweeter, email, phone calls, in most cases all we get are vague responses, in others they admit it but they do nothing about it but the say the dev team will know about it... It's not about telling its about fixing 🙂

So what's next? If you had luck you have Plestle, an app made by a forum user that can do that, it is far from the best scenario but it works. It was took down from Google App for "impersonating" the main SP app (they provide a small API to do that so what's the reason for it since once you make an app that uses the API it is taken out.

Anyway, they didn't took down Algoriddim djay pro although they act as the Spotify player being able to mix to songs dj style, if this is not impersonating then I don't know what it is. Plestle can't even PLAY a song, it's just a playlist manager as it should be done by SP in the fist place.

A few years passed and it seems this is not going to change, the beta releases don't have this in the near or far roadmap and nobody seems willing to cancel his  subscription because having millions of uses it will have 0 impact in the company.

Probably along the way Google music will grow and eat SP leaving this thread as a valid reminder of what a company should not do 🙂
