[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

greensox533 Your post inspired me to go onto and send connection requests to Spotify Android Developers, Engineers, Team Leads, etc. Many have "INMAIL" status, however, allows you to go to a profile select the three dots (Overflow menu) and Connect. There is an option to add a note. I liked how respectful your post was and I know the team at Spotify are working. May be under some mandate to not offer this feature, but that's another story. So I thought directly reaching out and using a variation of your message (invites only allow 300 characters) would be a good way to go. Hoping others in this forum follow suite.  Maybe if enough devs, team leads, engineering managers on the Android Spotify team get messages, something will be done? Here is the template.  Android customers deserve this basic feature that iOS has. We are not second class citizens to the mighty fruit company. LOL!

Hi "Name", your desktop app is superb, but I often find your mobile app lacking for one main reason: you can't rearrange songs on a playlist. I don't understand how this feature hasn't been implemented yet? I commend you for all the work done to date and hope to see this feature soon. -Your Name

It is hard to believe that Spotify still hasn't added this capability. This is a basic feature - everyone wants to arrange their songs in a playlist the way they want it.

Well done Spotify! Your complete ineptitude has got you some publicity!

How the **bleep** is this labelled a 'Good Idea'? It's fundamental.

Why in the world are iOS users prioritized above Android? This is completely doable in the programming as every other music service I use on Android does it.  Get your act together.  Either give it to both mobile platforms or leave it as a computer only feature.

Come on... If you can do it on iOS, you can do it on Android. We need this NOW.

This is a Spotify forum, they saw the last 4 years of rants and nothing happened. Android Central has no relation to SP and brought attention in this issue, get it? 🙂

So the timer is about to hit 4 years on this issue. Android is completely singled out as a platform - I can rearrange playlists on my Windows PC, my Linux laptop, my MacBook and my old iPhone. However, I can't on my brand new Google Pixel 2 XL. I presume because someone is too lazy to do something about it, given the fact that I still pay the fee every month like clockwork. (That could change very soon though.) I am convinced this is the only explanation as I make my living as a dev and such functionally does not take 4 years to implement in the worst of apps. I would go as far as to offer my services to Spotify - pay me and I will fix it for you! Or don't pay me and fix it yourself. Just do something.

Would be great if i could change the order of my playlist on my phone just as i can on my desktop (arrange by date, name, etc.) Just so that my newest added tracks would be on top instead of having to scroll all the way down.

The ridiculous thing is plenty of the functionality is already there. You can already rearrange your queued tracks with ease. As an app developer myself, I know  this functionality isn't difficult to implement. The real slap in the face is some of the ridiculous features they've wasted time on in the last 4 years, not to mention removing Lyrics, Moodagent, and the Inbox system.

What new features that you actually use, have they implemented over the last 4 years? I can think of a whole lot they took away, but not a single new feature comes to mind and makes me think "hmm.. useful!".

https://freeyourmusic.com/ will convert your playlists into Google Music playlists (as well as a whole heap of other streaming services) who do actually allow this.

I remember when Spotify wasn't run by idiots.
