[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

So the last comment by Spotify is a year ago! And it says, "we are listening?" As far as I can recall, for several YEARS, arranging songs on a play list has been a longstanding request for Android. August 2017. Nada!

Spotify, I like your service, but listening to your customers and acting upon top requests is not your strong point. Unfortunate.

Responses below. I had Spotify, then Google Play Music and now back to
Spotify. Each have their strengths. Spotify's customer service is not one
of them, but then neither is Google.

- Does it have this feature -- Yes you simply drag and drop songs within
a play list. Sometimes clunky but it works.

- Does it have the annoying "connect" that you can't disable if you don't
want it.

Don't understand this one. Not sure.

- Is the list of available songs equivalent to what Spotify has, and can
you create playlists, download them onto a device and listen to them
offline?

I find that Spotify's library is a bit more extensive. I also find that
discovery of music, and the curated play lists Spotify has are better than
GP. You can create Play Lists in GP; however, there is no way to create sub
folders or delineate albums within a Play List. Spotify allows for better
organization of folders and Play Lists (BUT only o the Desktop APP, which
TOTALLY Annoying they have not brought this functionality to the Android
App). Yes, GP you can download and listen offline AND there is no limit
like Spotify has. For that matter Spotify's limit on the number of albums
you can save even in the cloud is RIDICULOUS! GP has not such limitations.
Play Lists on Spotify are the clear work around. You can save as many
albums in the cloud to your heart's content as long as they are in a Play
List, sub folder to a Play List, etc. It does help me stay organized as I
will have a folders/ play lists for say Modern Jazz and then one for Smooth
Jazz or something. I can find my music a lot faster on Spotify than I ever
could on GP. Think long list of Play Lists with now sub categories. So I
could have 12 Smooth Jazz Play Lists all separate.

- Does it have a good way to search for newly released music, in a way
that will return you a full list, not just their choices, and ideally allow
you metadata on which to filter?

Yeah, search is pretty good on both services. Spotify tracks what you
listen to and recommends new music from artists you care about, I think
much better than GP. They both have pretty good search though.

- Do they even have a proper feedback forum?

So, GP, you could actually request a call back from a Google rep. You can
send Feedback through the app, but don't hold your breath getting a
response. Same thing with Spotify. I find it sad that Spotify has create
this elaborate community forum, yet don't seem to moderate it at all. You
will see months and even years go by without a response. So Spotify has a
community forum and GP really doesn't. No matter, neither company gives a
rip on what their paying customers think as evidenced in this
thread...arranging music in a play list. This has been a request for YEARS!
Way back to 2014 and beyond!

Hope this helps! It helped me with my RANT a bit. I am over it though, as I
obviously moved back to Spotify. There are cool things, like the ability to
seamlessly play music from one device to another. I control one Android
phone connected to my home stereo and then my computer app. All from one
device where I left off. Downside, only one device can play at a time. GP
can play multiple devices at the same time. Every now and then it would pop
up a message, sorry you are playing elsewhere, but most of the time you
could play on multiple devices different music at the same time. The
Recents with GP never seemed to sync right. I also like the integration of
Spotify with the WAZE Navigation app and my smart gear. GP just has not
gotten there yet.

One last thing that I kind of miss is YouTube Red. For the same monthly
subscription you get both Premium GP and YouTube Red (no ads and can still
hear the video even if your device display is not on). Very cool, but I did
not use it that much.

Huh? 2017 and I can't order my songs in their app? Seriously? This should have been done in 2001, for crying out loud.

I just struggled to do this for half an hour. No... Wait... Putting my tracks in order is like some sort of voodoo. I feel fortunate it even plays....

Status changed to: Good idea, vote for it

Updated on 2017-08-25

Hey everyone, we're back to give this idea its annual update. We're keeping this at 'Good Idea' because we truly do like this idea. However please know that this isn't in our current pipeline so you won't be seeing it any time soon. If we get a different update from the Android team we will of course let you know--they're very aware of all your feedback here. Thanks for your continued feedback!

And now it's time to leave Spotify...

Are you **bleep**ing kidding me?!?!

This has been an open ticket for YEARS and is something that iPhone users
already have and you just don't care enough to do it?!?!?

Time to migrate to another service that supports this feature on all platforms. A lot of us are in software development. This isn't rocket science and is 100% possible to implement within a week since the code base exists on other platforms. My (conspiracy) conclusion is that someone is paying Spotify not to develop this feature. A more reasonable explanation is that Spotify probably cannot get this feature to work across a sufficient number of Android flavors and devices to satisfy customers. That being said, if Spotify acknowledges it is a good idea, why isn't it in the pipeline? Develop it or kill it. Such a terrible response from Spotify.

Maybe if enough tweet the CEO it will gather attention?

Should keep it polite to be taken seriously.
