[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

I really hope this feature gets added soon. This one basic feature would really enhance the Spotify mobile app.

I've Just switched from ios to android and amazed that the basic functionality to reorder playlists is not available on android. Considering cancelling premium and moving to Google play. This should be an easy fix.

@Noah Enhance... think of it as if your asking for a PLAY button that will "enhance" the program... 🙂 Being able to reorder songs on a playlit its BASIC rather than an enhanced feature 🙂

grbsoft

@ARC84 We are amazed too, its been 4 years since our first amazing discovery 🙂

Noah

@grbsoft True, it is a pretty basic feature. Hopefully they add it in soon!

Pretty pathetic...this is such a basic feature. 'Annual update'? You guys think this is a 'good idea' but have let it go for years with no plan to implement?

Dragging songs to rearrange is already available for the Android queue. The same feature found in every basic music player should be available for playlists.

As a paying customer, this is an extremely aggravating omission from the Android app.

Happy new year! Any plans to implement this basic feature, new year's resolution perhaps? Set up a gofundme page for the dev, clearly from the last official response the Android team do whatever they want, what's in this pipeline? VR Karaoke? We're almost 4 years from the date of this suggestion and you're working on VR Karaoke right? Can we reorder the songs in VR Karaoke?

How many votes or years before a "good idea" becomes something you find the energy to work on? Hey I'm taking moving back to Google Play Music "under consideration", "watch this space" I've talked about internally? ¯\_(-_-)_/¯

Keep the comments open please

Sincerely yours

I really need to rearrange the songs on my playlist.  As a fitness instructor who does interval training,

it is very important to be able to manipulate fast and slow songs.  I know there are numerous instructors who use Spotify.

Messaged a couple of the recent posts to Spotify Cares on Twitter. Predictng the response will be, We hear ya! Sending to the team.

In another words, Spotify Doesn't Care!

Happy New Year! More comments in the Spotify Community regarding rearrange songs on a play list on the Android app. 4 years and counting. Maybe this is our year?

Here are a couple new posts...

"Happy new year! Any plans to implement this basic feature, new year's resolution perhaps? Set up a gofundme page for the dev, clearly from the last official response the Android team do whatever they want, what's in this pipeline?"

And this one...

"I really need to rearrange the songs on my playlist. As a fitness instructor who does interval training, it is very important to be able to manipulate fast and slow songs. I know there are numerous instructors who use Spotify."

As a former programmer I am beyond dumbfounded playlist ordering is not on Spotify.  This is a simple feature to implement, period.  I switched from iOS to Android on the new Pixel 2 XL and am blown away Spotify app is not on par with the iOS app in terms of a standard, simple and basic feature.

With a multi-billion dollar ipo coming for Spotify and teams of developers I am just blown away this feature was not added years ago let alone now in 2018.

I'm sure my post, as others, will fall on deaf ears.  Software companies do what they want.  This feature could have been added years ago or any time since.  Them not doing it is because of some legal or strategic reason we just don't know about.  However it is not for the programming time it would take to implement.  They already have the backend for it done as shown from the web and iOS app so fixing the Android front end is trivial.

Maybe they will share with us why?  Maybe some legal issue on Android or for licensing.  Sort of like when Pandora had to randomize songs you listened to for licensing.  Maybe not ordering songs got them a cheaper royalty rate or something.  Who knows and fairly certain they won't share why so I'll just guess it's one of these.
