Change the white interface

Original Post -

Obviously we have launched the new spotify with white artist profiles and album view.

However, the white interface have no ctrl+F function, which means that I can not find a specific song within an album or artist with a search function. This takes us to a world before altavista.

- I dont like

Another problem in this white interface is that we squeezed the track info into a little box. When in album-view, a track with a couple of featured artists will not fit in this box, it is not scrollable, it is simply a secret what the song is called, and who is playing it.

- I dont like

However, the new activity field is awesome, where one can follow people very selectively, and not get music-feed from everyone you know on facebook.

- I DO LIKE!

Hey guys! We’re changing this idea to “Implemented”.

Allow us to introduce Spotify’s new look. Now Spotify has a darker theme, refreshed typography and rounded iconography. You read more about these changes right here.

One other thing to note - white or not, is that the 'Top Tracks' no longer show you the album name, or ability to 'star' tracks. This is really dumb, as I now need to click on a track to play it, click the track name in the 'now playing' to see which album it came from, and only then can I favorite the track.

Really poor UX - regardless of the color of the background, but with that said, I too am not a fan of the white. Feels like a huge step backwards.

Avid spotify user but I do not like the white interface what so ever. Please roll back the code.

I do not like the white interface. Dark is much more stylish, and most importantly, it's easier to the eye when it's not so bright.

Please roll back this change. The white background is indeed garish (as another poster noted). The original theme was very stylish and understated; I liked how it didn't intrude on what was going on in my entertainment room. Now it's like a floodlight. Ideally there would be a series of options for how the display goes (& I'm in no position to say how, clueless as I am) so that everyone can configure it the way they like. I'm regretting having updated to the latest version--had no idea this was coming.

First Post here, because of the WHITE interface and the missing info added/artist/track etc, it makes using Spotify a much less pleasant "dumbed down" experience, i can actually see the outline of the bones in my hand because of the glare from the screen! 😉

I stopped using itunes years ago because of it's awful interface, now it looks like Spoitfy has gone the same way.

I'll cancel my subscription if it stays as is.

I agree with this. The new white layout gives me a headache. Luckily the playlists have been kept dark and I hide in the comfortable dark there. If these are changed to white aswell I dont think I would use spotify as much.

Even if it doesnt sound like much of an issue, it is for me, and could possibly make me unsubscribe from spotify.

The best sollution would be to give us the option to choose between the new and the old layout.

i agree, it's less pleasant to use. Whats the point of making a change that is worse than before?

I can no longer use this at night...  my neighbors are complaining and threatening legal action over the amount of light emanating from my screen.

Seriously though... fire the person who thought this was a good idea.  And actually fire the rest that agreed as well.  A better option would've been to include an option to select the white or darker background.

It's still possible to download the other version with old great background and reinstall it. When we restart Spotify we quickly get the "Restart to Update" message, it just needs to not click it and close it to keep the grey backgound...

That seems to be good.... BUT

As soon as we try to read a playlist from another site as ''sharemyplaylists", automaticly it installs the new version with white background... no choice possible..

Very bad!!

Bummer

I second the notion of having an option in Preferences where you can choose to use either the white or the former dark grey 'skin' when you are on artist pages (or maybe even more, but that's a different topic). I generally prefer darker layouts while browsing as it's easier on the eyes, and I'm sure many others do as well.
