Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

seriously, keep the program exactly the same, but add a 'clear playlist' button. you would make a large percent of your users happy. it's bad enough we have listen to those ads. i don't mind advertisement when it goes to funding something i find creative and useful, but there's something about spotify ads, their public relations team, and their software development that makes you think they go out of their way to make you hate every person that's involved with the thing you enjoy. it makes me wish i could do it better, but i have other interests. that being said, spotify knows they have unique features that will keep users coming back and listening to those ads and they simply don't care about their users. or they seriously can not even handle something that simple.

lol, to eklund, based on their limited command of engrish i'd say spotify public relations members are hipsters trying to relay the messages of stubborn developmentally challenged software enthusiasts.

This really needs fixing Spotify. I use Spotify through Sonos...it has a clear queue and save queue button...so what's the problem?

I just paid Spotify Premium for not being able to clear the play queue on my phone, some basic feature available in any player. Only if I knew that before paying... I can definetly say that I'm not going to extend the subscription, ignoring users for so many years is outrageous.

Hi,

Could you possibly please finally fix this issue? Pretty please. It is the single-handedly most annoying (up to infuriating) feature in Spotify and the single worst usability issue in the entire application (for me).

"For now if you want to clear your queue you can always play another context (another playlist, album,...) and the queue will be replaced by the new one. Then the queue will be cleared, that is the option we have :)"

Except if you clicked "Play" on a track/album/playlist it doesn't go anywhere. The tracks just hang around - without the possibility of being deleted from the play queue - after whatever it is you just queued up. If you click "Play" on another track/album/playlist then sure, the old one is replaced with another "sticky" list of tracks.

"At the moment, the whole team is trying and improving basic features for a better Spotify experience. Once we have a perfect product we will start focusing on good features and ideas. We hope you can all understand this."

Working in software development (as a tester) myself I can certainly understand prioritizing but no, I do not understand that when this infuriating usability issue has been there for YEARS. My speculation is that the only reason this still hasn't been fixed is because it's not a revenue-generating feature.

I mean, c'mon, you talk about wanting to improve "basic features". I'm kinda of the mind that play queue management in a music application is pretty much the third most basic feature of them all (right after being able to select tracks to be played, and then actually being able to play them). I don't know, I might be wrong.

Just fix it already, I seriously doubt it would be technically that demanding to give the users the ability to remove any and all tracks from the play queue regardless of how they were added there.

Oh, and while at it, it would be really great to get the "Add to play queue" option back when you right click on a playlist.

Only slightly frustrated right now,

Yes, it is way past time to fix this.  There are other products out there that have this basic feature.  Should I go spend my money with them instead?

Hi all,

I know this thread is old, but for me, I didn't like not being able to remove a song from the play queue, or move songs around except into the next play position.  Here's how I got around it.  Select all the songs in the play queue and drag the whole lot of them into second position.  This creates a copy of every song and put that yellow dot on the left instead of a star.  Now you can remove, or move around all the songs you just made copies of.  You still have the original list at the bottom of it all, but if you're like me, you have long playlists and seldom get through them in one sitting.  Anyway that's how I was able to manipulate the songs in the play queue.  I know this doesn't help those that are just looking to clear the entire play queue, but it does take back the ability to arrange songs in the order you want, and not what  the app leaves you with.

Just adding my vote for this feature to the discussion. It is ridiculous that such a trivial feature has sat on the shelf without being implemented for two years.

The delete from queue option is already present in the UI but disabled for queued search results. I am a programmer and this sounds like a five minute code change to me.

I can't believe this is still a problem. This is stupid easy to fix and it annoys the heck out of me. I can't use the queue feature anymore becuase of this.

Voting this up. The desktop already can clear the queue, all it needs a button that allows the user to clear it manually, or delete specific songs from the queue. Hardly rocket sciene, winamp or even WMP did it decades ago!

I'm in the trial period, my intention was to continue after it ends. Given the time it takes this unresolved I have no desire to continue using the service. There are several alternatives that provide this very basic functionality! spotify disappointment me.
