Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Very frustrating Spotify - 161 comments..and counting on this issue. Please consider offering all users the fundamental ability to clear a queue easily - Go on; add a little button on the queue page, call it something like 'clear queue', make sure it works everytime. It can't be that difficult. Work arounds (playing empty playlist etc) sometimes work, sometimes they don't. My niece played her Little Mermaid soundtrack last week when she was over, it's now being mixed in my queue with 'bring the noize' (Public Enemy) and my homies aren't impressed. I ve been using spotify now for one month and I find the whole 'clear queue' conundrum so distressing that spotify may be landing in my recycle bin sooner than later. Please, please sort it out.

There really needs to be an easy way to clear the play queue so you can build a new playlist from scratch.  I'd like to introduce Spotify to some of my older family members because I'm sure they'd enjoy all the music, but I know they would get confused by the inability to clear the queue and will uninstall in a heartbeat.  It's a real simple fix, but if it doesn't happen soon, I might dump Spotify and listen to music elsewhere.

I'm a new spotify user and this is incredibly frusterating that I cannot clear my queue. I'm seriously considering leaving over this as I'm constantly fighting this thing over what music is playing. Please fix this!

The "Blank playlist" workaround is functional with the latest update!  This is a step in the right direction!  Thanks Spotify!

I love Spotify... but I would love it even more if it had this very simple, basic function!

Please let us clear the queue totally!

For some reason, the blank playlist isn't working for me anymore. The green play button is "grayed-out". Selecting the playlist as current playlist gives an error message about a track not being available. After that, the playlist seems to contain only the current song of the previous playlist, but when I skip, it just goes on playing the rest of that playlist. Selecting the empty playlist, then shutting down Spotify and reopening it again reveals what it's actually doing: just hiding the remainder of the actual playlist it was playing. The complete list shows up again.

For the life of me, I can't imagine why on earth a "clear playlist" button was never created in the first place, as it's such a basic functionality. What's worse, Spotify says they want to first make a perfect product for a good basic product and better user experience, and only then add other features. Which is rather ironic, given the amount of comments in this thread and 500+ kudos after 2 and a half years and STILL THERE ISN'T A "CLEAR PLAYLIST" BUTTON AVAILABLE!

No! I don't want to replace my currect playlist queue with another, so as to "clear my current queue". It's not a solution! I'll just have another playlist endlessly looping and still experiencing the same basic problem.

Arrrghhhh!

As FEG-Bubbles says, pressing the "play" button in an empty playlist has stopped working as a way of clearing the Play Queue.

Perhaps it's not obvious to Spotify why I find this such a huge problem. I often listen to classical music. Many classical albums contain more than one piece of music, and I will often want to listen to only one of them. I want to be able to select the track(s) comprising the single piece I want to hear, and then play them (and nothing else).

I have been doing this by clearing the Play Queue, selecting the tracks I want to listen to, giving the right-click/Queue command, and then pressing the Play button. So far as I can make out, the only way of doing this now is to add these selected tracks into a new scratch playlist, and then to play that, deleting it afterwards. Yuck!

Does anyone know a better way of doing this which still works?

Last night I had a girl over. And she's like.... you know who I'd like to listen to again? Enya. I sigh innerly but you know what Enya leads to so I quickly queue some of the Enya Best Of and go with it for the evening.

I come home tonightand put some N.W.A. to chill out. The song finishes, and you guess what? Right: Enya. Took me 10 minutes to figure out I had to skip through the entire queue to finally get into the so called "New context".

New context? Guess what: I listened to Straight Outta Compton, I'd say that was a whole different context.

Seriously: Fix this. Just a button to look at, and clear my queue. Just like a playlist in the sidebar, that you cannot delete and that is your queue. That cannot be a technical problem and it is usability nightmare.

Edit: words.

Well after reading this ENTIRE thread, I'd say I jumped the gun in subscribing to this, not because of the inconvenience, simply for the sheer fact that these guys are way too dumb to develop software. CLEAR QUEUE, this is basics this is standard, this is not a NICE to HAVE.

It sounds to me that they forgot to ask around and see what the actual people who give them money want, absolutely retarded. These guys won't be around for too much longer unless they get bought and fixed by a mature company.

This is *ugly* on Android - removing items individually is such a pain.

1. Also Android doesn't let me play an empty playlist to clear the queue

2. When deleting one-by-one, the tap-target for the [...] button on the playlist entry is too small

3. Why can't I delete the current playing item? It should skip it?

This feature *surely* is not rocket-science - no server changes etc.
