Close Button Closes Spotify [Windows]

Or at least minimize it to a tray Icon. But I would say close it. Maybe this is more of an opinion, but I've only used 2 programs that are this bad. Skype and Spotify. And Skype is a really bad program.  So I don't know why in Spotify, the Close and Minimize button do the same exact thing. I would like a quick way to close the program and stop the musik.  This is mainly a problem for me on Windows 7 and I believe linux is very similar.

Hey everyone. This feature was implemented for Windows users in our latest update (1.0). You can read more about this update here. Thanks for your kudos and feedback here in the Idea Exchange.

This is complete nonsense. Respect your users and FIX THIS.

This is rediculous, the close button closes programs, simple as that. It is rude to assume your program is better than others, and should not need to be closed. Probably reading too much into it, but it comes off as arrogant and self serving. I'm not using spotify on my Windows PCs until this is addressed, definitely not paying for premium when the application is broken.

And another reason I will probably be cancelling my subscription.
Seriously, almost 2 years since this ISSUE was brought up and NOTHINGS BEEN DONE! I'm with ablufia. Spotify HAD the potential to be a great streaming music player, but ignoring a basic problem is not the way to go. In Windows, the expedient and universally accepted way to close a program is to click the red "x" button. Having the "_" and the "x" button perform the same MINIMIZE function, instead of their own individual standard functions is a BUG. Then ALLOWING the BUG to exist for 2 YEARS, WITHOUT fixing is just "spitting in users faces." FIX THIS ISSUE AND FIX IT NOW!

I agree completely. I often use right-click on a taskbar icon or Alt+F4 to close programs. Spotify is the only program that does not support exiting this way. Please implement normal windows behaviour, or at least make it an option. Thank you.

I totally agree. Skype is the best reference to this issue/new idea. Skype is highly known for being upsetting when you try to close it, please improve Spotify with a single-close shortcut.

Agree... Pretty annoying when I try to shut down Windows and it tells me it can't because I must close all my programs first. Bah...

I agree wholeheartedly with this idea. The fact that this option was not programmed in during development is just sad. Yes many other applications minimize on close, but those applications also allow you to change the settings so that you can actually CLOSE the program when you press the close button. The close (X) button closes the window. The minimize (-) button minimizes the window. Stop getting the two confused.

I just signed up for a pay subscription. Not having spotify close on X is making me seriously reconsider.

Please, Please, can you respond as to the strategy here? Seriously, exactly why does this not close like every other windows program? Why not force it to load on startup and completely disable any way to remove the program if that is your software strategy?

Do you have statistics that say that if you disable this "feature" people will use spotify more? I can't even begin to understand it. It would make a more sense to add quicklaunch icon then trying to prevent people from closing the software. Did you know there is a minimize feature two buttons over that does the same thing?

When features are implemented like this its hard to even trust the company that is making the software. This is what spammers and malware people do.

I cancelled my premium subscription to spotify because of this.  Please let me know when you fix this obnoxious UI behavior so I can start paying again.. I like your service but this (although seemingly small) is an unforgivable UI decision.. it makes your program feel like malware, its infuriating.

Cheers.
