Close Button Closes Spotify [Windows]

Or at least minimize it to a tray Icon. But I would say close it. Maybe this is more of an opinion, but I've only used 2 programs that are this bad. Skype and Spotify. And Skype is a really bad program.  So I don't know why in Spotify, the Close and Minimize button do the same exact thing. I would like a quick way to close the program and stop the musik.  This is mainly a problem for me on Windows 7 and I believe linux is very similar.

Hey everyone. This feature was implemented for Windows users in our latest update (1.0). You can read more about this update here. Thanks for your kudos and feedback here in the Idea Exchange.

This should be at the very least be an advanced option for those who want it, there is no rational reason for this to not be included, it breaks the standard UI design of a Windows application for goodness sake! I find this really annoying. Every time I click close I expect it to .... close, not sit on my toolbar still playing.

I don't want to sound like I'm throwing my toys out of the pram, but I honestly feel this could start to annoy me enough that I would consider (*conisder*) dropping my subscription, especially as Spotify are no longer the only player in town.

The lack of being able to close this application with ALT+F4 is the reason I have not signed up for premium nor frequent the app. I would readily pay to use Spotify since there is such a following and so many people use it to make playlists. As well as the app being so easy to navigate! You have my email, send me a message when you guys decide that basic features are a must! Will pay you when you do!

Seriously- this is rediculous.  Alt+f4 and the red X close programs.  It's infuriating and needs to be fixed.

As a 'trial' customer this is enough for me to keep from signing up- just silliness.

Uninstalling the Windows version of the software over this. I'll stick to the web player and competitor sites.

Please fix this, it is really annoying.   I cannot believe it is 2015 and the close button still minimises this application.

This has been annoying me for so long that I ended the subscription today. The absence of money talks more than a forum post.

The staff reply makes utterly no sense. Basically they are saying that close and minimise do the same thing because they don't want you to close the program so that they can file share on your computer even though I am not filesharing with Spotify and a few users agree that they do not want to close the program even when they click the close button. WTF? Did I miss something here?

To close spotify in Windows 7: Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager > Processes tab - scroll down to spotify.exe *32  Right click > End process.

 Haha.

This is still not ideal at all, but fastest way i can figure for closing Spotify, using only the keyboard, is as follows below. You will need the "Menu key", located to the left of the right "Ctrl"-key.

First, make sure Spotify is the first program on your taskbar. (You can pin it to make sure it stays first, always).

Then, press: Windows Key + T, Menu Key, Q, Enter

'Windows Key + T' highlights Spotify on the taskbar. 'Menu Key' right-clicks. 'Q' highlights Quit, and 'Enter' quits!! Woho!!

And it's probably easy to make a keyboard-command that does the whole sequence in one?! ^^

Actually, it works fine for me just to press "Alt + F" and then "X" on the keyboard, as long as spotify is the active window.
