[Connect] Publish the Spotify Connect API

Spotify should publish the required documentation for implementing Spotify Connect on internet-enabled receivers / speakers.

Updated on 2019-04-09

Hey folks,

Thanks for adding your vote to this idea.

Use of the Spotify Connect Web API is now in beta. You can check out the details here.

You can also find out a lot more about devloping with Spotify at the Spotify for Developers website.

Thanks!

@meahtenoha Care to tell us why not? What is standing in the way of making this a priority? Seems like an insult to basically say "No"

@b3nihana they do this all the time 😞

The DIY person who loves building home HTPC and don't have the money to buy a high end stereo that support Spotify Connect thanks you.........

Would be nice to have this so a media center app like Kodi, or just opensource linux can implement it so we can use it on a raspberry pi.

To those asking "why???":

It is business. They don't care about peak profits, they care about long term control over user-base.

So be on the strong side in your oppinions: just switch to competitors.

For now....try this on the raspberry pi: https://volumio.org/forum/spotify-connect-t2811.html

I have got it running...and it works. Just install volumio 1.55 and follow instructions in this post

Please release it finally. Come on, Connect requires Spotify Premium, so releasing API publicly just makes sense, since developers can base applications for various (embedded) devices on this API, and thus gaining you more paid subscribers 🙂

+1 please publish a public API

I just changed to Google Play Music. Their app is quite good, mixes great with Android and google services in general.
