[Desktop] Restore Cache Location Specification

I run on a machine with a small SSD for my OS and critical applications.

In previous versions of Spotify I have set my cache to my larger hard drive. Now this is no longer possible.

Now I am constantly having to manually clear my cache and am unable to specify where I want the files to be kept.

This needs to be restored.

Updated: 2015-07-08

Hey everyone, this feature is returning in the 1.0.9 Desktop update. That update is currently rolling out and should reach everyone quite soon.

I`d like to see this issue fixed as well. *joins the crowd*

This feature has NOT been implemented - it does not work as specified. Spotify still writes to the OS drive despite having changed the cahce location. I have to resort to streaming Spotify Web Player in Internet Browser Incognito mode to prevent it writing to my OS SSD drive - C drive.

Everyone who is saying this is still not fixed is getting the two types of cache mixed up. Meredith should have explained the difference. The cache option that was restored ("implemented") is only for offline playback. The online playback cache still uses the boot volume and cannot be changed in preferences.

Ideally Spotify should be enhanced to allow us to also specify in preferences the desired location for the online cache. For a workaround using symlink please see my post,

I would still need an option to limit how much cache is used. As little as possible thanks, I don't care if there's a gap between songs.

Another useful feature removed for no reason...

Still no update to fix this problem ? That is a very long time for such an issue to be going on.

I am quite astonished and disappointed to the lack of responsiveness of Spotify, especially given that it doesn't seem to require a major update to implement.

I created this post, which was marked as "not an issue." Glad to know I'm not the only one who'd like to see this fixed!

Spotify!

This needs to be fixed!
I just deleted 10GB of Cache from my SSD althought the Desktop CLient is set to cache to D/Tmp/Spotify

Just looked at my c: drive utilization with WinDirStat and C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Spotify\Data is sucking down a lot of drive space even though I have Spotify configured to use my d: drive.  The d: drive location is used as well and according to file time stamps , *BOTH* locations are being populated with recent data.

So even when I specify an alternate drive for caching, Spotify still stubbornly uses C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Spotify\Data to store a significant amount of data.

In looking at this thread, this has been an issue for quite some time now.

As a Premium Subscriber, I'd like this fixed and I'd like to know that this is on Spotify's radar.
