[Desktop] Restore Cache Location Specification

I run on a machine with a small SSD for my OS and critical applications.

In previous versions of Spotify I have set my cache to my larger hard drive. Now this is no longer possible.

Now I am constantly having to manually clear my cache and am unable to specify where I want the files to be kept.

This needs to be restored.

Updated: 2015-07-08

Hey everyone, this feature is returning in the 1.0.9 Desktop update. That update is currently rolling out and should reach everyone quite soon.

Not fixed in 1.0.3.101. Anyone knowing what the developer responsible for this oddity is smoking ?

Am gone to another streamer.

I just cancelled my subscription. This is ridiculous.

Hi Spotify dev team

Please resolve this issue and allow us to change the location of the cache.

This is a big problem for users that don't have a lot of storage on their system drive

Please keep your customers happy, you know we're right!

Thank you

In for the sub.

I use Spotify on 2 different Windows 7 computers:

Oddly enough, one installation is still using the cache on the STORAGE disk (from previous settings,) the other installation reverted the cache settings and is using the user cache on the OS disk (as expected with the cache option removed.)

I have no idea why one installation would revert to default settings as you would expect, and the other installation would still use the off disk cache settings I had set previously. Searching the registry for a key to change cache location didn't help. Usually a quick tweak can change things like this.

Spotfiy has been pretty responsive, applying user feedback to improve their application. I'll continue to wait for my cache setting to return.

I'm still waiting for the "Connect" feature to quit killing my cell phone with its wakelock as well.

Either way, it's muliplatform, complex app, and I use it almost every hour of the day I'm concious. So keep the updates coming. Your app is almost a necessity and it's becoming ubiquitous across devices.

 Still nothing, I wait updates...

If you're going into AppData\Roaming\Spotify you will find "prefs" with no extension, that contains the settings and that will tell you your prefered cachelocation that was previously possible but as of now of course it will have no effect until new release in future..

Same here, i'm very disapointed about latest update on Spotify, bring me back this please !

I'm a premium user since 2012 with 2 friends, actually we thinking leave spotify for an another platform if nothing change.

(I find a solution but need to tweak pref file of spotify, more information here : https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Desktop-Linux-Mac-and/Problem-with-the-cache-in-the-latest-ver... )

Best regards from France

WTF!!!

that is soo freaking insane.

SSD space is NOT as cheap as the spotify devs must be thinking...

oh my gosh PLEASE bring back this option.

to be able to set ONE variable within the source code instead of setting it hardcoded is such an easy easy task to program....

MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! SOON! otherwise I will cancel my sub...
