[Desktop] Restore Cache Location Specification

I run on a machine with a small SSD for my OS and critical applications.

In previous versions of Spotify I have set my cache to my larger hard drive. Now this is no longer possible.

Now I am constantly having to manually clear my cache and am unable to specify where I want the files to be kept.

This needs to be restored.

Updated: 2015-07-08

Hey everyone, this feature is returning in the 1.0.9 Desktop update. That update is currently rolling out and should reach everyone quite soon.

same boat here.

ridiculous that this basic function has been removed.

when is a user definable cache location coming back?

the software seems to get worse with every update.

does anyone know if it's possible to install older versions on a mac?

the forced auto update feature is really annoying!

After a bit of consideration I have now cancelled my Premium description. I will not return to Spotify in the future even if all these issues with the new "upgrade" is fixed. I'm left with the same impression I had after Microsoft revealed their true focus with the Xbox One. You don't care about the customers at all.

There is no way you could have gone through with this mess not knowing how bad it was.

It's a shame. I loved using Spotify. Good job team!

Ok it seems Spotify don't give a crap about his costumers, a more than a month has passed i haven't seen any update and we are still stuck with this piece of trash the app is right now.

And i think for the reviews i've seen Google Play seems to care about the client they use to avoid doing stupid things.

Already a month i could use spotify in my windows 8.1 tablet because someone at Spotify though would be good to laught at our faces.

15 days to close my suscription and counting.

This is not a luxury option, this is NEEDED. It was really stupid to remove this option. Please make it's return a top priority urgent item. I can't continue to use Spotify without it and won't pay for something I can't use.

I use Spotify 1.0.3.101 on my iMac. Is it possible to chance the Spotify cache location on Mac? Spotify can write on my HDD, but not on my SSD.

unbelievable that they haven't reacted to this yet.  I have 40gig SSD. Actually I don't install anything on C. This current spotify is a nightmare for me.

Well this explains where 7GB of my Windows program partition has gone. I set my programs so that possible data goes onto another partition - which I did with a previous version of Spotify.

I can't think of any other modern program that makes you clog up the program area with tons of data, with no option to change it. Come on. This is programming for the Windows95 era.

I've given up and canceled my suscription for Spotify, hopefuly forever.

I've sent an email to the Support Team, they just answered something like "Ey we don't care about your problems, just go to hell".

I'm so angry at Spotify right now i would stop listening music before go back to use this infamous service.

Is there Any other alternatives to Spotify that actually works? With desktop and phone client?

Qobuz. The Desktop and the iOS apps are working correctly. The Androïd app is still weak if you want to store music for offline listening . The sound quality is much better than Spotify. The price is the same as Spotify. I cancelled my subscription a few months ago because of the problems with the Androïd app. But I have been so disappointed with Spotify that I'm now returning to Qobuz.

I just found out today that Spotify had a lot of space in its chache folder when I specified these files to be in my secondary partition which is larger and was surprised that it had to download all my playlists again 😞 What happened? I did like the change cache location option.
