[Mobile] [Other] Smart Shuffle toggle setting in settings menu

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Honestly its NOT that HARD. If we tell Spotify we don't want it then they need to just remove the feature. Nobody asked for it.

It's obvious Spotify has no intention of making smart shuffle something that can be disabled or it's own toggle. There is certainly a financial reason they're leaving it the way it is. The only way Spotify listens is when we stop giving them our money. I've made the switch to Apple Music. I urge everyone to make a switch to a different streaming service. If we don't, Spotify will just keep ignoring us because if they have our money, why would they put any effort/time/money into changing?

Can you please tell me why your android app is such a mess when you select smart shuffle? When I select plain old normal shuffle, I still get tracks I didn't want. Please stop trying to push music on me I don't want to hear. Everyone I know who uses Spotify wants a way to deactivate smart shuffle permanently on there app, you community page is littered with requests for this to be a thing.

@WaltJabsco, I posted that one a few months back as a bug and they said it's because I was using the free version. It's BS, because on the web player as a free user I have access to the normal shuffle even on the free tier, so it shouldn't add tracks that aren't part of the playlist. In my case it's very easy to spot even if the song made sense, because the playlist in question was the liked songs playlist and I would get not liked songs from time to time. It seems to only happen in the mobile web app though and not on the desktop web app for some reason. It's still less bad than smart shuffle, so I'll stick with the web player for the time being

That is BS cos I have a premium account and it's driving me crazy. I pay to listen to my choices, not theirs. 😡

Spotify hates its customers and only caters to corporations who want to feed us what they want us to listen to. This is obvious from their lack of communication regarding this issue.

Spotify asked if I would participate in a 'survey'— I agreed...I went through the effort to reply to both: the questionnaire AND the additional comments: Spotify refused to accept the feedback, it kept error'ing out. Here is what I wrote to the prompt "How would you rate Spotify's service":

From this very crudely and clumsily worded 'short survey', to Spotify's poor customer service/user engagement on this topic, to the 'enshitification' of your playlists—by literally violating users private playlists with the addition of songs NOT ASKED FOR and then NEVER doing anything to remedy this situation. On a scale of 1-100, for how likely would I be to recommend Spotify to a friend—I rate Spotify a 1 – worst possible. I am actively discouraging people from signing up. Until this ridiculously easy to resolve Spotify mistake is dealt with correctly, I rate Spotify as the worst!

What is going on?  Why isn't this "Under Consideration" at this point?  Its got 7,494 votes.  There is a suggestion in "Under Consideration" with only 50 votes.  What is the point of this voting system if a set number of votes doesn't automatically move the suggestion into the next category.  It seems like you still need someone at Spotify to like your suggestion aside from the community.  Very "Its who you know" vibes going on here.
