[Mobile] [Other] Smart Shuffle toggle setting in settings menu

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Hello, I found this topic while searching for a way to permanently disable smart shuffle. It is frustrating that we must to through this just to listen to our own playlists.

I'm on the bus heading to work right now and in some places the phone signal is poor, so smart shuffle keeps loading forever and i can never go to proper regular shuffle like i would like to. This is a paid app, you should really listen to us. This ruins user experience.

Yes we kno that we can get rid of it by tapping it again, but that makes our listening process slower for some people. We would like it to not go to smart shuffle at all.

Smart Shuffle is so annoying, I consider it a bug.

Smart shuffle takes forever to load and then sometimes it won't shut off until I press it over ten times and, for me, it's just not worth having around

grubsnake

Yeah smart shuffle is literally making me want to switch off the platform. Extremely intrusive and unusable if you have unstable internet connection.

Spotify, PLEASE get rid of smart shuffle, I beg you. If you insist on keeping it, could you at least move it so the people who want the plain shuffle button don’t have to cycle through the insufferable rigamarole every single time?

To me, this is a clear sign Spotify is selling its soul. It's pretty obvious they intentionally did not add a disable button, to force new songs down everybody's throat, which will probably translate to great 'interaction'/'discovering' statistics on paper.

Absolutely hate it. This ist the moment you believe you are helping but **bleep**ing it up completely. Just ask the COSTUMERS what they want. Nobody wanted to wait an additional 2-5 Seconds everytime they switch from shuffle to normal playlist because smart shuffle has to think about songs you dont want to hear... FFS just give us an option to deactivate smart shuffle completely in the settings... Getting more and more angry here.

Spotify is barely functional after this update, normally when I open a playlist I press the shuffle button on and off to reshuffle the songs. Now this doesn't work, it does the stupid smart shuffle and I have to keep pressing it over and over again until it goes to the normal shuffle. When I'm on offline mode, it works even less. I'm sick of these bullsh*t decisions that Spotify is making, every update recently has made the user experience worse and worse, from the new desktop UI to this. Honestly considering switching to another music platform despite all my playlists here.

Does anybody know if any other streaming (applemusic, tidal, etc.) has this so called "feature" as well? I consider switching since this bug was introduced to me yesterday. Cannot listen while workout (I'm in the woods, no connection), cannot fast shuffle->get in the middle of playlist->unshuffle to listen songs in order I like without some ...things... being pushed in between. Also the time that's being consumed to randomize unwanted songs into my liked playlist is unacceptable. LIKED PLAYLIST. I tought this was a playlist that was supposed to be a collection of music I LIKE, not I COULD LISTEN TO. Worst spotify decision ever... smh... I'm really disappointed, this comlpetely breaks my experience....
