Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

At least have an option to toggle it. It's pretty bad at sorting through large playlists.

Getting pretty tired of getting e-mail notifications from this thread. I really, really hope the developers do as well so they might fix the pile of garbage they call smart shuffle

adding a toggle within settings to disable it from being struck altogether would be best. the people who like it will just keep it toggled ‘on’ within those settings because they use it. the people who use it sometimes won’t use it enough to mind looking for it (because it’s infuriating to have on). and the people who don’t want it won’t have to deal with this useless and annoying feature anyway. i see you have over 100 pages of comments on this topic. this is an old enough topic for you to have done something about it by now. the people using this app (and more often than not…paying for it as well) aren’t going anywhere over an issue this small, but we’re also not going to give you the engagement you truly want with that feature…maybe on accident. only to be interrupted by the algorithm not realizing they have just played the audiences least favorite song of all time, bringing one person into an irrational fit of rage. ruining the night. you disappoint me spotify. for over a decade you have done for the people what no one else has: listened, been there, offered a service we are more grateful for everyday we realize how little you pay the artists you have “contracts” with. but most importantly, you have been reasonable (more often than not—at least to customers not neglected enough to have bought your weird carplay doohickey) and you have been worth it. don’t make forceable changes to a decade long setup that will eventually cease to be worth it. make it optional spotify. make it optional. love ya bud (aka the intern/customer service rep that see this, whom i KNOW can do big things; you got this champ)

Please make this terrible, stupid /&%%% smart shuffle option- which has nothing to do with shuffle, a separate option. I will gladly permanently turn it off. Or is Spotify making money on us being bombarded with unwanted songs? This function alone is a reason i may soon drop out of Spotify, as it is no longer stress free and a happy place to go to.

I also am wondering if I should just quit Spotify. I am overwhelmed with so much unwanted music being pushed on us. I need to know that when i open Spotify that my music is there and organized. All the stupid recommendations was bad enough. This terrible horrible smart shuffle is just too invasive. One of my playlist was totally destroyed. I do not need the stress. I must keep shuffle permanently off. I cannot risk being sabotaged again with unwanted songs.
