Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Need to permanently disable this. Shouldn't be forced into using AI features like this, but it constantly re-enables itself and I can't turn it off while driving.

Why is it the first type of shuffle that activates when I press shuffle. Since the CD was invented, the button 🔀 means “when this is pressed, the songs in the thing you are listening to (playlist / cd / device) will be played at random. When it is pressed again, the songs will be played in order again”. Nobody ever asked for this to be a tri-state option.

keep the feature. Add it to the repeat options. Make it turn on when smiling a big cheezy grin into the camera. I don’t care. Just stop making me have to check what mode my shuffle is in when driving. I want it on or off. Not in a weird “ooh, let me add some hot garbage to your playlist” state. Please.

if I want to listen to weird stuff “like the playlist I’m listening to” I’ll use the existing playlist radio feature. The shuffle button isn’t for this purpose. Please.

So sick of this option. Not able to disable it although it's an option but it turns on automatically after minimizing. Doesnt make sense at all!
I'm soon ending my premium and start listen to youtube songs until this Sh** has been fixed. For what do I pay????

Surely Spotify is familiar with enshittification. Been using for years and it's like the app i pay for is actively working against my interests. Make it a toggleable option and force it on your less savvy users who don't realise they're being shafted, if it's so important. You people are making the future dystopian I spit at your feet.

Unfortunately, I don't see Spotify implementing this anytime soon. Doesn't mean they never will, but it took them FOUR LONG YEARS to implement just one of the ideas they finally accepted.

That idea currently has 8,363 votes. No idea how many it had when it was implemented back in 2016, but we're already approaching that many votes in about half the time. Maybe it will only take 2 years for them to implement this?

I wish the Community Idea machine moved a little faster. It's amazing how long a simple idea can take to implement. I saw another one that took 6 years to implement. That's a long time to wait around for Spotify to change something, especially if we're talking about a feature the Community literally hates.

I like your sober-toned comment - what makes this thread 'of a different type' than the one you referenced, is that we are not asking for something to be created - rather, we are asking for something that NEVER should have been, to be removed.

A personal playlist is just that, a PERSONAL playlist - it is NOT a place for random insertions. spotify should keep out of people's personally created/curated playlists.

This feature should never default to on. If I turn off smart shuffle I expect it to stay off. I'd like a feature to allow me to disable it entirely!

My playlists get stuck on smart shuffle, having a toggle to ensure it's playing regular shuffle would be huge!!!
