Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

I can't believe what I'm seeing here, non-premium users get a better shuffle experience simply by the fact that they don't even get Smart Shuffle, let alone have to press twice for regular shuffle! Ridiculous, this on top of removing "Create similar playlist" and the shuffle/loop buttons having intermittent issues on mobile, does anyone competent work for Spotify anymore? Should I take my business elsewhere?

I hate smart shuffle. I hate that it is the default option when I click the shuffle button. Sometimes I make sure to toggle it off to normal shuffle and find it's reverted back to smart shuffle! Smart shuffle feels like a deeper ploy to play the biggest trending songs on my device.

Not sure which of this feature or enhanced playlist is the lamer, more misguided attempt at driving engagement, but they both show that execs at Spotify care more about counting beans than understanding or serving music fans. Listeners often curate playlists carefully, and you have other, much better ways for us to discover new songs. Stop invading this feature with AI-driven garbage, please!

Every time I have to activate Smart shuffle all my local files in that playlist become unavailable. Really annoying. So please fix that and make it possible to toggle smart shuffle on and off globally and per playlist.

i absolutely hate smart shuffle, the added tracks don't hit my taste at all, so it's basically an additional tap to get to the basic shuffle feature

i didn't even know that smart shuffle is mandatory for the free service. to me the fact that I now always have to click the shuffle button twice to not be exposed to ads is almost just as obnoxious, though

Smart shuffle without a doubt is the most awful "feature" on any music player I have ever used.  The fact that it is the default setting just makes it worse. 92 pages of comments and 6500 votes on here should be ringing alarm bells at Spotify that they have **bleep** up.  Please, give us the option to disable this permanently and centrally in settings!

92 pages of replies so far... 6.6k likes... This is the 11th most popular suggestion on Spotify's forum, and it would be TRIVIAL to implement (Compared to the 10 other suggestions)... Imagine not listening to your customers...

“Smart shuffle” being the default has me seriously considering Apple Music.

I’ve had Spotify premium for 12 years, and this thoroughly unwanted “feature” gets on my nerve to the point of leaving your platform for good.

Let me disable it. Now.
