[Playlists] Only selected Playlist Authors for Collaborative Playlist

Hi!

Recently, me and a few friends have started to get this kick ass playlist together of the music we all share and like. Obviously Spotify is the best way to do this. However, a playlist can only be managed by one single user.

Wouldn't it be a great idea that the 'founder' of the playlist can assign co-authors?

Would love to hear the feedback!

Hey everyone,

We're happy to announce that you will soon have new options for managing collaborative playlists - they are rolling out to everyone over the coming weeks.

Users will have the ability to review who currently has access to individual playlists, share collaborative playlists with large public groups, or keep them small and private for that special tightly-knit group of friends.

You will be able to:
  • Pick your favorites. As a playlist creator, you can now invite or remove users from collaborating on your playlists, meaning there’s more control over who has access to editing the content you love.
  • Share privately. You can now set your collaborative playlists to private, so no one can view, search, listen to or share a playlist– except for those chosen few who have been invited or given collaborative access.
  • Change your mind? At any given time, a playlist owner has the power to see, add and remove who gets to collaborate and follow their playlists.
For details on how the feature works, see:

Because of this change, this other idea is also being implemented.

If you don't see this yet, don't worry. Just make sure to keep your app up to date and it should be available for you soon.

Thanks for giving us your feedback in the Community.

This is out of Twitter's jurisdiction it's a great app to have especially if you're a curator. If you're going to promote be sure to back up you're list first. But if @morisdown, @morisdownmusic does that again, be sure to tag him in a post and use the normal #Spotify #spotifyplaylist hash tags and at tag @spotify and @spotifyartists as well. I'll probably find and RT or quote tweet I have over 5k followers, that **bleep** will get viral cause so many people are **bleep** over this guy.

Some moron named Music4you keeps adding his **bleep** to my playlist.

I'm not sure why this can't be addressed pretty easily.

Since Spotify doesn't think this is an issue, I'll post in this thread every time it happens. This time, some moron "One Hit Wonder" spammed my playlist with his awful taste in music. Seems like an easy fix guys!

Even worse, you can really report these guys for anything because there's no real setting to address these hateful little trolls.

Spotify clearly isn't approaching this as a technical problem. I can only assume that preventing people from spamming users' playlists is inconsistent with their goals, which are clearly not looking out for what is in the best interest of individual users. Just another reminder that users of services like this are not customers.

My collab playlists with my friends that are only shared between us are now being spammed and changed with different music by accounts such as "Music4You". They add loads of songs, delete all of our songs and change the playlist completely.

It makes no sense that you can't have a collab playlist with friends only, why can random people come and add music and completely change our playlists.

DoomNation

They just added the "Block" feature to user profiles (Thank you, by the way). Supposedly if you use it, they can no longer see your profile or public playlists. If your promoting your collab playlists on SM, block them there as well so they won't see it. It should work pretty well cause it's usually the same people who are always vandalizing playlist.

I have several playlists with my friends and multiple encounters with random people adding songs to them. Please prioritize this fix as constantly deleting songs gets old fast.

  • You can use the block feature to keep people from accessing your playlists. I'll find a category that's appropriate to publish a blacklist of users where everyone can contribute

Oh god spotify cmon! I have the same problem and people are adding songs and it’s just a mess. Why can’t you just make selectively collaborative playlists? What’s the big deal? Why does everyone get the chance to add songs and I have to waste my time deleting them ALL THE TIME! A lot of us (myself included) pay for the services so listen to us!

These bots are ruining our playlists 😭😭😭 it’s so frustrating when you’re a couple of friends sharing a playlist that you’ve worked on together during the whole pandemic, and these user bots come in and add shitty music or even delete songs that we have added. Over time, these kind of playlists mean a lot to people because they were created for a specific moment or by friends etc. Please listen to any of the above ideas and change the feature so that there at least can be an option to create playlist with invitation only 🙏
