[Social] Bring back Inbox/Messaging with Notifications

The Inbox/Messaging feature did not get a real shot at even being a feature because Spotify took away notifications for new messages. Give Inbox/Messaging some development so users can continue to privately share songs.

Not impressed with this move Spotify...in fact it seems out right shady to remove the feature without any prior notification to your users. I can't even wrap my head around your thinking here. So now you want users to do your marketing for you by spaming other social media accounts?? This seems like the only reason you did this. It reeks of corporate greed and a complete lack of understanding of your users. Really? Removing a messaging feature?? This is just mind boggling honestly. I really hope there's a replacement on the way or I'll be taking my $10/month somewhere else.

Removing the inbox has me considering cancelling my Spotify subscription to find something else to use. Please bring this feature back. This is ridiculous.

I've lost many messages between me and my ex girlfriend. We used to write each other poems and send songs along with them. I'm completely petrified by this feature being removed. Please bring this feature back. It meant a lot more than you guys thought

Hi Spotify,

I, like everyone else in this thread, was very disappointed to discover that the Inbox/Chat feature had been removed in the latest update. It might seem trivial to some but as a longtime subscriber and a daily user (literally on my desktop application for 6-9 hours each day), the Inbox/Chat component has been deeply ingrained in my user experience. The sharing aspect and chat feature allow me and my brother who lives across the country to easily share music, share ideas, and stay in touch. This alone is well worth the monthly fee and my satisfaction with the service has diminished significantly without it - especially with zero notice ahead of its removal.

I trust that company as forward thinking and innovative as yours, that has just reached 50M paid subscribers no less, will hear the feedback of its paying customers and work to correct it. Please bring this back, guys! Don't let us down!

I lost my inbox tonight when I updated the app, not realizing...I lost years of saved messages/songs and I am heartbroken!!  If I had known beforehand, I could have at least added them to a playlist!  I'm so angry and sad; the direct sharing was one of my favorite features.  Please bring it back or at least allow me to see what I had saved!!!

I can't believe they removed this. Along with new music notifications, sharing with my friends was one of the CORE reasons why I prefer Spotify. If I can't share within Spotify then I have to leave the service, find the track on a service that my friends use, YouTube, and send them a link to that. Spotify has created a work flow that leads users AWAY from their service. This is idiotic.

I've been a premium user for years but now I really don't know what I'm paying for that I couldn't do better myself.

Is Spotify trying to shut itself down??

The messages feature of Spotify is a gold mine.

I am web developer from NH and I used this alot with my friend to build the perfect playlist for our date nights. With additional feautres like adding multiple people to a chat, the ability to up vote a song, and the ability to add a playlist that when a shared song is up voted by the majority of the chat and then the song will be added to that playlist. Also the ability to share the chat to facebook. So if someone creates an Event on Facebook you can post the link and have people create the perfect playist for their parties, roadtrips, and other special events. These features would draw a lot of attention and usage to the spotify app. Build the peferfect playlist for all of your events? Who wouldnt sign up for that? Takes a lot of stress out of parties and may even save money by removing the need to pay for a DJ.

Just my thougts, keep up the good work Spotify!
