Add Bit-Perfect Playback (WASAPI Exclusive Mode) on Windows

Now that Spotify Premium offers lossless streaming, it’s time to unlock its full potential for Windows users.

Currently, the Windows app routes audio through the system mixer, which can alter the signal (resampling, volume control, etc.). To deliver true bit-perfect lossless audio, we need a WASAPI exclusive mode option (similar to what Tidal, Qobuz, and others provide).

This feature would:

  • Ensure the audio stream is delivered untouched to the DAC.
  • Allow audiophiles and Hi-Fi users to enjoy Spotify at its highest fidelity.
  • Make Spotify a true alternative to other lossless services for critical listening on Windows.

Spotify, please implement this. I really want to keep using Spotify for the great recommendations and extras, but at the end of the day if Tidal can give me proper DAC control and no downsampling to 16-bit/44.1kHz I'll probably end up switching.

Spotify has been a part of my music listening time for most of the time, allowing me to enjoy all kinds of music. I'm really looking forward to the early release of this feature, which will improve music playback quality, especially for lossless music, and make Spotify even better.

It seems that Spotify will always be a lower-tier product. I don't know if the exclusive mode will change anything, which is why I went back to Tidal after trying Spotify HiFi.

Yes implement WASAPI exclusive mode on Spotify for windows! This is vital for great sound quality for your music enthusiast subscribers that have headphone and stereo rigs for exceptional Hifi.

I'm not up to date about all the acronyms being passed around, I definitely know that the sound quality has improved noticeably, LOSSLESS streaming on my living room 7.1 surround sound system.  I doubt if I would hear the difference through my cellphone speaker. Unless I turned on my Tribit Wi-Fi speaker or headset, then, maybe. Much or all the high and low-end distortion is gone. It's hard to describe the difference, clean, clear, would be a accurate word. I've lost the high end shhhh sound that annoyed me, It was likely present mixed into other sounds but not as pronounced, some loud heavy bass sounds rattled before, It's gone now.

Thank you Spotify

It works for me💖

Now they can bury the DJ and bring back the like ❤️, life would be in balance.

Oh! Onkyo/Polk audio would be happy Spot has solved my complaints.
