Add "remove video content" option to Spotify Family

Please add an option to "remove video content" to Spotify Family! Since video podcasts were added, my children now watch videos on Spotify instead of listening to music.  I had given them unlimited access to Spotify (unlike other apps) because it was only used for music.

All you'd have to do is add another toggle for "remove video content" next to "Remove explicit content".

Spotify Kids is not an option for us.  My children are teens and tweens.  And because they're teens and tweens, they have a very difficult time turning off compelling video content (just like some adults).  If Spotify becomes just another screen to stare at, I'm not sure we want to keep our Family membership.

I am a spotify user since, I don't know when. Must be about 10 years. I never questioned myself to take a look at the competition, always was a happy user. Even now I have youtube premium I don't use their music service because I was happy with spotify.

Now, obviously some intern, had the idea to make spotify play videos. Got it, great idea and some people might like it. But there is no option to turncoat off?!?! Really?!?!

I use spotify with my phone and headphones. Now I have to click, change to audio, on every damn track!!!

Otherwise I hear glass shattering, a dog barking, a car driving or whatever happens in that video.

I mean you can't be serious, right?

That's the quintessenz of your app, to listen to music.

It's the first time for me I question staying a user of spotify, and that means they really **bleep** it up.

Whoever had the idea should step down of his position!

Argh. I recently got phones for my kids, then set up Spotify with a Premium Family account. Now, I have found myself in this same boat. I wanted my 11 and 13 year-olds to have unlimited time to listen to music; but they discovered video content in Spotify. So, I guess I have to go back to Amazon Music, or check out Apple Music. To echo the previous commenter (and hundreds of other comments): "We want to be able to allow our kids to listen to music, not watch dopamine fix short videos."

Despite being open for THREE YEARS with THOUSANDS of comments explaining why this is necessary, this has just been marked as a "Live Idea" for voting on AGAIN in 2025?? How much more proof do Spotify developers need to finally implement these safety controls?

If anyone is still receiving notifications on this thread, please go back and re-vote. I notice that even though I'd voted on this thread from it's last update in 2023(?), I had to go back and vote on this idea yet again

Why is this thread not marked as UNDER CONSIDERATION? There are thousands of comments and likes, over 3 years, mostly from concerned parents. I notice the moderators keep merging ideas, which messes up the voting and minimises the seriousness of the suggestions here. This is about safeguarding children.

Does anyone know a political figure who would act on parents behalf? A minister for children or anyone in a position of power? They may be able to help. This is years a problem. I left a 1 star review in the play store and it was ignored.

Because of the possibility of watching video podcasts on Spotify, Spotify has become unusable for me.

My children had only used Spotify to watch video podcasts and not to listen to music; I had no way to change that.

This is the only reason why I haven't been a paying Spotify customer for a long time.

Please please please get rid of these videos. My child is currently fascinated with these stupid teen drama stories that are totally inappropriate even for a 13 year old.
At the very least make it an option that can be disabled and give parents more control without having to use Spotify Kids.

There is a setting to restrict explicit music but I’d like a way to restrict the podcasts and disable video podcasts on my child’s account

They are not going to do it unfortunately. This thread has been live for almost 3 years (they keep merging it) with thousands of comments. The only temporary solution is here, but it doesn’t stop the explicit content and only hides the videos on the home screen. It’s not a safe app for kids.
