Add "remove video content" option to Spotify Family

Please add an option to "remove video content" to Spotify Family! Since video podcasts were added, my children now watch videos on Spotify instead of listening to music.  I had given them unlimited access to Spotify (unlike other apps) because it was only used for music.

All you'd have to do is add another toggle for "remove video content" next to "Remove explicit content".

Spotify Kids is not an option for us.  My children are teens and tweens.  And because they're teens and tweens, they have a very difficult time turning off compelling video content (just like some adults).  If Spotify becomes just another screen to stare at, I'm not sure we want to keep our Family membership.

There are about a half dozen or more similar posts to this. If the board mods would combine them with the votes, it would probably be enough to pass the threshold of where they actually take a look at implementing this.

I'm in an identical situation to the scores of other parents who have kids that are too old for Spotify Kids and subscribe to Spotify strictly for music. We limit the amount of time our children spend watching videos, but we want them to be able to listen to music without policing them about watching videos instead.

We're on the edge of cancelling Spotify for Apple Music which does not have any videos.

Upvoted multiple thread with this topic, but I finally cancelled our family subscription and moved to Apple.  Their app and music selection is inferior, but I don't have to worry about my kids watching TikTok videos on a supposed music app.

This is forcing us to move our family plan to a different platform. Spotify-Kids is not a viable option.
Not even a matter of explicit content. Just simply because we'd like the kids to have more access to music and podcasts, but not be able to just sit and zombie-out to reposted tik-toks. The have access to videos on other platforms, but for limited hours.

Please implement a filter. My kid was 9 years old when we first noticed she was being shown suicidal and erotic content on Spotify, out of nowhere. Mostly tiktok compilations (after all the trouble of avoiding tiktok…). We had no idea videos were available. This is incredibly irresponsible.

Parental  controls on all media platforms suck. It should be mandatory (legal obligation) to provide parental controls for all children (minors) which means up to the age of 18. As parents we're told that your classed as a child (minor) to 18 in some areas and others 16. One of our children is not age mature and needs a little more help in making the right decisions. But we're not given the tools to carry out our parental obligations let alone our own moral compass preferences.

Listening to music at night to help them rest and get to sleep is great but now they can watch video's which is totally detrimental to their wellbeing. So the player has to come out at lights out regardless. And the content that can be watched is appalling and feeds all sorts of **bleep** that youngsters are not equipped to deal with. Not far short of radicalisation in a 'I must have... be like...' way.

I would really like to have the ability to disable all podcasts and videos for members of my family. I have 3 teenagers and they use Spotify for music. I was very disheartened when Spotify added videos and podcasts, as there is a large number of questionable/pornographic/offensive videos and podcasts that I do not want my children exposed to.

They are old enough that the Spotify kids app does not serve their needs, and while I am OK with them having access to explicit content on musics, I find that the offensive content on the videos and podcasts are out of control.

The existing "filter explicit content" flag does not remove the objectionable material, as it counts on the creator to flag its own content as explicit, which is often not happening. Not enough oversight on content moderation is taking place, and this platform is filling up with vulgar content.

This is a very obvious oversight in Family permissions, and it seems intentional. This should be a very straightforward change that would greatly increase my confidence in Spotify. I've been a family subscription member for several years.

As it stands right now, I am contemplating canceling my Spotify family subscription due to the large number of videos and podcasts that contain objectionable content.

I came here to bubble this up - it seems that I'm very much not alone with this request.

A couple things:

  • "Explicit Filter" isn't enough control at the family level.
  • Podcasts can contain swearing and adult content - their content isn't moderated
    • My 10 year old was listening to a "**bleep** sounds" ASMR podcast (not kidding)
  • Need to be able to disable video podcasts - for the same reasons as above.
    • I deliberately do not allow my children on TikTok or Instagram only to find my daughter watching a video podcast of someone watching and commenting on TikTok videos. Some sexual. 🙄

I'm aware that Spotify has their children's app - but it's too limited and doesn't allow access to anything expect curated pop music. I'd like my children to have access to the gamut of music available, just not video podcasts or explicit content podcasts.

Spotify has had this request in the hopper for a couple years now and hasn't done anything with it - so I'm guessing it's very low priority or goes against their revenue model (more video = more money?). Either way, we're unfortunately switching to Apple Music until something is done, or until my children are older and this is no longer an issue in our household.

Kids love music. The listen while painting, playing or crafting, or they simply dance to the music.

But kids also love looking at animations and movie clips, and they have a hard time looking away from them. We restrict their access to YouTube and such apps for this reason.
I have a Spotify Family subscription, to give my three kids free access to listening to and discovering new music, and the freedom to curate their own playlists. They have unrestricted access to the Spotify all. We did have trouble with them staring at canvas videos instead of doing kids stuff, but found out how to turn canvases off. Now they have started looking at video podcasts on Spotify instead of listening to music, I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to restrict their Spotify access, but I need a way to help them sticking to music (or audio podcasts) only.
The kids know (and agree) that they should not watch videos in the daytime. But they also testify how hard (impossible) it is as a kid to stay away from the videos when they are there.
Please Spotify - give me as a parent the control over my kids access to video content!

Not being able to disable Videos in an subscription I have for only audio is ridiculous.

If video is a Premium feature I will probably stop the Premium subscription.

Shame for not having implemented this in 2 years! This should be trivial to implement and would help all parents
