Add "remove video content" option to Spotify Family

Please add an option to "remove video content" to Spotify Family! Since video podcasts were added, my children now watch videos on Spotify instead of listening to music.  I had given them unlimited access to Spotify (unlike other apps) because it was only used for music.

All you'd have to do is add another toggle for "remove video content" next to "Remove explicit content".

Spotify Kids is not an option for us.  My children are teens and tweens.  And because they're teens and tweens, they have a very difficult time turning off compelling video content (just like some adults).  If Spotify becomes just another screen to stare at, I'm not sure we want to keep our Family membership.

Could not agree more. I think this is a huge safety issue that Spotify appears to keep ignoring. I don’t know why uses Spotify for this content but, if it is somehow making a huge amount of money for Spotify, we should at least be able to opt out of being exposed to it, particularly if you are charging us more and more for Spotify premium

Spotify clearly not listening judging by the age of these comments and the fact I still can't disable all video content for my young teen daighter. She doesn't want the toddlers version of the app (Spotify Kids) she's 12... but I can't have her accessing YouTube and TikTok content so we're going to have to cancel our family plan. Spotify is for listening - nobody needs more things to watch and rot their brains. Do better Spotify!

yep agree and I feel for sympathy for you as a parent in this situatioN
we need not another youtube

Soundcloud could be worth to switch due AFAIK no video there however smaller catalogue of music. But no shady business as with spotify (Ted Gioia in his podcasy with Rick Beatos talks about this)

In addition to this, when I turn off videos, the application states

“Got it. We will only play audio from now on.”

yeah right, until a few minutes later when it switches back to video.

stop this load of rubbish. I may as well switch to YouTube and turn the screen off at this rate. At least YouTube are honest about what they are doing, Spotify gaslight me every few hours.

Give me an option to disable this rubbish sooner than later or voting with feet will commence.

Please tell us how many votes needed, so we can get Spotify to grow up and take moral responsibility regarding this issue! Per now, it doesn't seem like Spotify takes responsibility for displaying adult content to children - this need to change!

Be responsible - let us control what our children can watch on your platform!!

I have found myself and family in the EXACT same situation, as I'm sure countless others that have seen this post, and the multitude of whom may have not.

It really does seem like an option, that wouldn't be too much to add. I understand the revenue avenue I'm sure presents itself, and know that Spotify is a BUSINESS, and it is a service WE freely choose to purchase, and contribute to. That being said, it would also seem, to RETAIN subscribers, and revenue from what's essentially the cornerstone of Spotify's revenue, that this would be optional, for paying subscribers. I have no other complaints whatsoever, and I'm not really complaining, I LOVE Spotify, and recommend to anyone I know who my still be using another audio streaming service, and the majority have switched, I am just stepping in, to show I agree, and sympathise, with the O/P. Please make this happen Spotify!!! Thank you!!!

I agree with most of what you say although I now HATE Spotify as they have ignored thousands of requests about this for a couple of years. They exposed my daughter to vile things on her first week at secondary school, with her own Spotify account which I had no idea about for 3 weeks. This is very serious and their lack of interest in safeguarding speaks volumes.

Spotify being a less regulated version of Youtube is insane. Fix it.

I absolutely agree and would welcome this customization.  I have a Family Plan subscription but am currently looking for other platforms where my kids can just listen to music.  Right now it really sucks for them because I have Content Filter on.  As a parent, I am okay with whatever music they listen to, but somehow Spotify has become a gateway to **bleep**? My son listens to sleep apps but got offered audio **bleep** through asmr genre - this is all linked to explicit photos and videos that are not filtered.

How did "raindrops on a roof" become "sucking c-ck by the fire"?  This is really outrageous.

What I would like is customization of the content filter please!  Explicit music is okay.  Videos? no.  Youtube access? no.  Recommendations for sexualized versions of genres you like - Please NO!

Why did you make an audio app into a video app. We want to be able to allow our kids to listen to music, not watch dopamine fix short videos. At the very least this option to turn off video content for kids accounts is a must have. We will be moving to another music platform if this feature can't be added.
