[All Platforms][Podcasts] Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely

I don't listen to podcasts and don't intend to. But it currently takes up valuable space in both the Spotify mobile app and also in Android Auto. It's annoying having to see podcasts all the time when I don't care for them and don't want to see them.

Is it not reasonable to just have a toggle to show podcasts or not?

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange and for bringing us your continual feedback. We also think this is a great idea and that there's an opportunity to make it happen, so we're looking into it further.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

I appreciate the option to switch between "all", "music", and "Podcasts" in the home page, in both Android app, Windows app, and the web player. It helps me not be tempted to play podcasts when I should focus and can afford only music. However, to get there, I need to first go to the home page, wait for these 3 buttons to load (why does it take so long?), and then click the "Music" button. I want to be able to bookmark the address for the music page https://open.spotify.com/home?facet=music-chip , but it doesn't load if not clicked from the home page. Please fix this so surfing there works, so I can update my bookmark to it.

Thank you!

The age of this idea request is concerning. I'm tired of the app playing podcasts that I do not want to listen to. But because a few seconds play before I click the next button, Spotify seems to think I listened to it which is not at all the case. I seriously need a "skip podcast" option in addition to a "never play podcast again" AND a block feature. I do not want anything to do with certain podcasts, and it's utterly baffling that the option to block a podcast does not exist.

I have the same idea. But unfortunately I can assert that they will never add this function because it's simply not a lucrative way. They think improving user experience doesn't lead to revenue. Rather, imposing unwanted features on users is an easier and more effective way to make money for them.

Given this issues was brought to the forefront 2019  and also acknowledged by Spotify as a necessary feature, I am bemused to find nothing has changed in FIVE YEARS!!!

Users pay to have a choice! So to see that subscriptions to podcasters can’t be deleted from their home screen is unconscionable and preposterous.

Spotify users pay for the privilege of choosing what they want to hear, so not being able to access such features or options is unacceptable and ludicrous. I would have thought! given the request, for such an option back in 2019 and the acknowledged of it, would have been implemented by now and rolled to Spotifys loyal customers.

Seriously disillusioned  customer of  11+ years .

Why do I have to keep clicking on "not interested" only to be offered the same shitty podcasts every day? That makes no sense. Are you too stupid at Spotify or just too ignorant and arrogant?

", so we're looking into it further." Its been now 1 Year since u wanted to look into it. Any Update on this Topic? I keep getting Podcast Rekommandation to one podcast i really dislike and i dont want to see on my homepage every day. Spotify simply does not have a business model that can generate profits. Spotify has been making losses since it was founded. Other streaming providers like Apple Music and Amazon have several divisions that co-finance each other, Spotify can't and never will be able to do that because they only have one business model. So Spotify will do everything it can to force these shitty podcasts on us, the paying customers, for all eternity, because they don't have to pay license fees to the record labels, but can continue to collect our money. People, wake up...most podcasts are actually free and are financed by advertising. Spotify collects our money and places additional advertising in podcasts.

To make matters worse, we're no longer just being annoyed with podcasts, now there's another line of video podcasts to boot!

If we don't consciously listen to music, then we should let some artists play all the time 24/7, just to beat Spotify into paying more and more license fees.

This arrogance from Spotify pisses me off!

I love using Spotify for music, but I use a different platform for podcasts, and have never used Spotify for podcasts.

It’s therefore killing the user experience to have literally half of the ‘Home’ tab filled with various forms of podcast recommendations, as well a large portion of search results.

Spotify: I get that you’re trying to build a podcasts business, but please do this organically and stop trying to force it upon users!!

Idea: expand the 'hide this song'/'do not show this artist' feature to apply to podcast episodes, podcasts, and podcast artists.
