[All Platforms] Remember Position in Playlist / Album

Please remember the current song playing in a playlist so if I switch away to a different playlist and then switch back, Spotify will know where I left off.

I often can't finish a playlist right away or my mood changes so I might switch to a different playlist. Later, I want to finish the previous playlist, not start over again.

Hey everyone,

This idea accidentally ended up in the wrong board, so we're moving it back here.

We're keeping the Not Right Now status as we don't have any immediate plans to implement this. As soon as we have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here.

Take care.

Yes indeed. This is why I dropped the service and found alternatives much
cheaper and companies that take user feedback

Which service do u use? Does it have this functionality?

This option would make Spotify a real replacement for Radio, especially in the car. As it is now, for example when changing from an audiobook to my favourite heavy metal album, I have to search the last position in the audiobook manually, once going back to literature. This is in the best case annoying.

The fact that first message of this thread was written 12! years ago (yes years not month, weeks or days) is not giving me a lot of hope. It might be time to do it thorough search for alternative providers. After all, I’m paying a lot of money for my family account - and the fact that as someone based in Switzerland I have to pay as well the Swiss premium is not helping at all here.

Hi just a suggestion. Not sure if this will even get passed further, but I think it will be great if Spotify had a "bookmark" option for when you are going between different songs on a playlist and podcast episodes. It be easier than having to scroll down to the song or podcast episode you think you left off on. For instance you listen to songs off one Playlist and want to go another PLAYLIST and listen to songs on there but then want to switch back to prior playlist and instead of scrolling down until you find the song (or podcast) you think you last listened to to continue the playlist, that song or podcast is already "bookmarked" to continue where you left off on the playlist

This is a basic feature which is bugged or never has been implemented and even shouldn't have to go through "User Ideas".

I also posted an idea regarding "open playlist at the position of the currently played song". It's unpractical when you play a song of a long playlist eg. „liked songs“ and you want to go to the songs position. Right now on the iPhone you have to manually scroll down.

This idea has thousands of votes and yet spotify is ignoring it. I am really thinking to switch the streaming provider.

Yes - bookmark feature, especially in long playlists, is really needed.  Scrolling through a long list is particularly clumsy on a mobile phone  Also, when I am using a play list when driving, I usually have to start at beginning as it is dangerous to scroll while driving.

This would actually be very useful for podcasts:

1. Listening to music

2. Fancy a podcast episode

3. Pick up where I left off in 1.

Now I have to take note of the playlist and song I was listening to in 1. before I hop into podcasts.

This definitely should be a feature: the ability to save and restore “listening sessions” at will.

Everytime when I switch back to a playlist, it start plat the first song instead of the last song I played.

Please remember the position of the last song I played in a playlist, so that when I switch back to the playlist, I can continue listening the songs I never listened instead of listen all over again.

Why are you not implementing this? A simple button to scroll to current song playing would be sufficient.

I am not thinking about using shorter playlists.
