[Android Automotive][Radio] Offline Mode

Isn't it annoying when you are driving around in your new car, playing music from Spotify and it suddenly just stops? You are might driving over mountain roads with no internet connection and no radio connection and you are forced to listen to the awkward silence, knowing that you will not get internet connection in at least an hour.

My question is then why doesn't Spotify in Android Automotive (in cars like Polestar 2) have an offline function, just like on the android and iOS phones? I would suggest an idea of implementing offline mode to be able to download music playlists so you don't need to listen to the awkward silence when you have no internet connection to listen to your music. I hope I'm not the only one thinking about this, and I hope there can be a solution for the problem.

"For no internet connection problems, feel free to use the Spotify feature which let you download music in order to hear it without internet connection."

Yes, that is the feature that is being requested...

Is there any update to this? 1.5y since anyone from Spotify replied...

Please Spotify consider this!

Renault has released in 2022 2 new cars running on Android automotive : Renault Megane and Renault Austral.

As premium user I expect to have this basis feature because on road, you don't have all the time LTE cover, and data plan for cars are limited and quite expensive.

Hi there,

Renault Megane user with Android Automotive here, and desperatly wishing for offline mode !

Please Spotify, make this happen.

The app is very close to have it, knowing that it already has the caching system (which works for a few songs when offline).

You need to make this happen Spotify 🙂
It has been almost two years since last reply from you that there were enough votes to make this happen?
I have had Premium Family Spotify for 5 years. I would hate to let it go, but that will be the result when I get my Polestar 2 vehicle. If there is no option to download and listen offline, I unfortunately will be forced to switch to Youtube Music or another service that provides offline content on Google Automotive. I have areas with bad signal on my daily commute

So almost 3 years since this was posted and still not available.. Other apps on Android Automotive has this functionality, please get it working ASAP!

I'm looking seriously at a Polestar as well. I've got a family subscription but will be moving to whatever service will allow this. The whole point of premium/download is the ofline function for me as signal is pretty patchy in some of the places I go through.  The whole point of an android auto OS is to provide matching functionality. How is this not a thing?

Yes please! My household includes a Polestar and a Volvo both heavily using Spotify on the Android Automotive platform. This feature would be incredibly welcome for our mountain drives and road trips.

I also would like to see this happen. As far as I can tell Spotify on Android Automotive (I drive a Polestar 2) only buffers one, maybe 2 songs ahead. This feature has been around forever on Spotify for Android, seems like it can't be that difficult to port the feature to Android Automotive. It feels like it's almost more obviously needed in a car where you might be on a road trip or driving through rural areas with limited service.

Even the Prime Video app in Android Automotive has the download option built in, and it doesn't seem like nearly as much effort was put into porting that app from Android.
