[Android] Remove the Shuffle / Play Button

Hi, I tried out your new design, which I have mixed feelings about, but nevermind that. The most annoying thing I come over in the new Spotify (for iPhone by the way) is the dumb, big, overlapping, unnecessary shuffle play button that pops up everywhere. Is this a bug or is this on purpose? Could at least had add an option for it. Also, it doesn't look streamlined at all with the current design. Did it even occur that not everyone wants a shuffle play button?

Updated on 2020-11-04

Hey folks,
As some of you will have noticed, this has changed on iOS.
We've updated the idea, so that we can update everyone more accurately with regards to Android.
We're marking this as a 'Good idea', too.
Please know that your feedback is reaching the right teams here.

We'll post an update if anything changes!
Thanks

Relatively new user, I thought I was missing something. It is THE most annoying and ugly UI choice I've ever seen...Spotify are basically saying 'we want you to always shuffle for [unknown reason] so we're going to force all users  to play their albums and lists in this way. 'play album' in the order chosen by the artist is not something you believe users want or that you want to discourage anyway?

Over 6 years as a Spotify Premium user and I have NEVER shuffled anything - except accidently, when it is always a shock that sends me scrambling to figure out what is WRONG. Please just let me go to Settings and disable the button.

Yes, that darn button has got to go! Sooo annoying. Make it a Play button or remove altogether.

This is one of the dumbest decisions! Why not just add an option in a user's profile to default to shuffle play or normal play? I cancelled my spotify subscription because of this. I would gladly join, but I refuse until I can click a single button to play an entire album. Every other service does this. Why can't Spotify?

And don't give me a 4 step workaround. That's poor UI/UX!

It's my guess that some high up member of the team refuses to acknowledge that their design is not the best and changing it would be admitting they were wrong.  I've worked with many such people....

I did the same after pissoffed too often by the BigFatShuffleButton, but
after experiencing hifi and master at Tidal, there's no way back to Spotify
anyway. Twice the price, but worth it. It seems they care about their
users, not just their income.

Please give us an option to remove the "Shuffle Play" button !!!

It is annoying and people listening to albums usually do not want to "shuffle"

In the web player there is a "Play" button, so why cant we choose what the button does. And it is "in your face" annoyingly present.

I don’t get why a proper shuffle (play all songs once in a playlist before repeating any one song again) is so difficult. I find it quite laughable, and not in a funny way, that this may have been removed from mobile devices but is available on the desktop version because it’s too much to maintain. I only use Spotify on my phone. Spotify is the number one music streaming company is it not?  To think that a simple feature is this hard to get is a joke and should come standard. It’s like buying a music player without a pause button because pause is not used much so it’s best to fully stop your song and if you want to hear it again listen to it from the beginning or fast forward. Spotify has given me tons of workarounds to “randomize”, not shuffle my playlist when it should just be ONE BUTTON PERIOD. Is Spotify basically saying that they don’t cater to customers that curate playlists with over 100 songs? We should be warned at the very beginning of wasting our time curating that it doesn’t matter how many songs you put on a playlist because the same 75 or so will repeat and we won’t hear all songs in the list. It’s 2017, I can’t believe we have to ask and fight for this so hard. The fact that “shuffle” doesn’t work as practically all of us want it to makes me want to cut off my losses and leave to Apple Music or a Tidal. While those two have their own flaws they have shuffle that actually works. Question for me and you now is do we wait for Spotify to add this feature because this forum makes me believe there’s more push back than empathy and understanding how much we need this or lose my hours of curating pretty good playlists imo and walk. Hmm.
