[Android] swipe down current playing song view instead of tapping the arrow

On iOS you can swipe down the view where the currently playing song is shown. I've also tested YT Music, Deezer and Amazon Music apps on Android. All of them implemented the same behaviour. Only Spotify on Android is not able to let the user swipe away the currently palying song view. Instead I have to tap on the arrow on the top left end of the screen. In a world full of gestures and much too large smartphone displays, that is inacceptable!

I suggest that this feature is either corrected or removed. As it is implement now, it is yet another obstacle for using the app.

This is the worst thing added to Spotify. Sat here scrolling across songs and every so often it scrolls down and I have to go back in to the player. Please make it so we can turn it off, it's very annoying!

This feature was implemented VERY POORLY.  Half the time I want to swipe left or right on a track, it swipes down.

Can you add a setting to disable this?  Or at least fix the behavior as this is worse than before.  I'm literally downloading an apk for the last version of Spotify that didn't have this feature.  The new one is simply unusable to me.  You need more end user testing

It's nice to have this feature, but why can't we swipe up to open the player like on iOS and like any other Music streaming app?

The problem with this feature is the the direction of swipe is determined by the very first motion detected. So if I am trying to swipe left but my thumb slides even a single pixel downwards when it touches the screen, it takes the entire distance I swiped to the left and applies it downwards.

I often use Spotify in my car, and it was much safer for me to blindly swipe on the screen then try and mess with the controls on android auto (my car does not have steering wheel media controls), but ever since this was updated it has been even more distracting to use the swipe gesture as it fails more often than if succeeds.

Please fix this so that either:

a) UI will respond to both drag directions at once, and only execute on the action once the finger is released based on the angle between the start and end point. OR:

b) the drag direction is determined only after some slightly longer (say 10 pixel) drag distance. This is the standard behavior for swiping notifications away on Android that prevents pulling down the quick settings each time (although I don't know the threshold distance)
