Balanced shuffle for collaborative playlists

I would like to share a suggestion regarding the behavior of shuffle mode in collaborative playlists.

I am currently part of a playlist created by a colleague, where several users have been invited to add their favorite songs. Each participant has added a different number of tracks (for example, some added around 100 songs, others 50, others 20, etc.). Overall, the experience is very good when listening in shuffle mode.

However, I have noticed that shuffle mode tends to favor songs from users who have added a larger number of tracks. For instance, if one user added 100 songs and another added only 10, the songs from the first user appear much more frequently, while the songs from the second user rarely play.

As a possible improvement, I believe it would be very interesting to have an optional “balanced shuffle” mode for collaborative playlists. This mode could take into account the contributions of each invited user and distribute playback more evenly—for example, alternating songs between contributors (one song from one user, then one from another, and so on), while still preserving a random listening experience.

I think this functionality could significantly improve the experience of collaborative playlists and encourage fair participation among all contributors.
