Bring back "Pin playlists to homescreen"

According to a discussion on https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Move-playlists-to-Homescreen/td-p/5453989 it is "currently not available".

Albums are possible to be pinned to the homescreen, but the support to do the same with playlists is removed recently

Through this way I would like to request to add this functionality back to the android app

***update: I did get a playlist shortcut back on my Android homescreen finally. Try going into the app drawer, long press on the Spotify icon, the Playlist i wanted popped up in the context menu, another long press sent it to the homescreen.

***update 2: Wasn't sure at first how to control what playlists show up in the long press pop-up but so far it has worked by navigating to the Playlist and hitting the phone's homescreen button and going back through the long-press process above. Each time the most recently displayed playlist in the app was visible in the pop-up.

I'm a little late to this party. My last two phones had the shortcuts automatically transferred over by the phone backup service; so I had no idea this had been removed until my most recent phone transfer didn't bring them with it! Super bummed. I used those homescreen shortcuts literally every day.

Like @phrozenstare mentioned, my work vehicle is a Ford Transit van fleet vehicle. No android auto even though it's a 2019 so the shortcut was a huge lifesaver while driving. Not every new vehicle has fancy tech.

Removing the ability to pin playlist and albums to my android homescreen is a large enough issue that I'm considering unsubscribing.

Finally, it is back!! Hope that all of you already have it or will have it very soon, so update your Spotify 🙂

@Jo_achim

I just checked in the app if I was able to pin a playlist or album to my homescreen and was unable to do so. I went to the Google playstore to see if an update was available and it says my app is up to date and was last updated on 2/20/23.

I've just updated to the latest version, and I don't see any option to pin playlists..

@Xsailor_saturnx

I'm sorry you don't have this option 😕 When I'm playing a playlist I can then pin it. My version of Spotify now is 8.8.12.545

@Jo_achim, I have the Same Version but no feature. You got android? Does it work like before? Three points menu?

@Roshhimitsu

Yes, I have android. I checked it also on my tablet - it's working there too. When the option was missing a few months back, I was trying every week if it's back, so it's something new, definitely last week it wasn't available.

I don't use the three points menu - just push longer on the Spotify icon and then see the last playing podcast/playlist etc. that can be pinned to the main screen.

@Jo_achim

This isn't the same as it used to be. We were able to do this using an app called shortcut maker, and at least I got my playlist and album covers that way. Using this "feature" drops a generic song icon on your screen and the playlist/album no longer autoplays either.

for me it works like Joachim wrote. Then you have the short cut on the home screen as before.
