RETURN THE LIKE BUTTON

I don't care if this has been submitted a hundred times over, you Spotify devs clearly need to hear it. You should *not* have to go through the effort of finding the "liked songs" playlist, just to add a song to Liked, when you have a ton of playlists. Playlists don't even sort like they used to, it seems almost random which playlists show first despite which ones I interacted with last - but that's not the issue here; it's just yet another downside of the problem at hand.

Please. Please. Please.

Bring back the **bleep** 'liked'/heart button on songs and albums. Having to add liked songs to my liked playlist manually just leads to me adding it to different playlists because it's so **bleep** tedious in the first place. I've been adding songs to playlists and then using the PC version to mass-add songs to Liked because you make it so inconvenient on mobile. This isn't user-friendly in the slightest.

Just, why? Why can't you just bring back the little heart? I thought the point of liked songs was to add songs then and there; not to have to stop in the street to add a song to a playlist because it now takes several seconds to do so. I've been paying for Premium since 2009, and now I'm wondering if you're worth the effort. Fire whoever told you it was a good idea to remove the Liked button, seriously. Fire yourselves for listening, too.

The main goal for me when using Spotify, is to find new music. New songs that I do not already have on my "Liked Songs". When I find one, I'll add it to my Liked Songs.

Now, when I have saved several public playlists, or albums I've saved so I can go through them, the green checkmark either shows or does not show based on something. Not simply whether I have it saved on Liked Songs. I may have the song on my Liked Songs or not, I cannot know any more just by looking at the list of songs. Before I could see it immediately by looking at the heart icon.

It used to be so much fun to to see a heart symbol and know immediately this one is part of the most valuable collection, my Liked Songs. Now as the heart symbol is replaced by multi-functional green checkmark, looking for new music is not so fun any longer.

Can someone please answer my question?

I think everyone have used the heart button differently. Personally, I clicked the heart whenever I liked a song or wanted to save it for later, like a bookmarking tool. For me, the heart button wasn’t just for marking 'banger' songs; it was more of an 'add to library' button. I’d revisit my liked songs list when I had time, un-heart some, and add my favorites to a separate playlist.

Am I the only one who used the heart button this way? Did others really use it very selectively, and save other mediocre songs by going through the extra steps of adding them to a playlist? For me, adding all the songs I liked(whether it's a banger or not) first and then sorting them later was more efficient. Being very selective and only heart-ing 'bangers' while adding other mediocre songs to a playlist (which takes several steps) felt like a hassle. Just was curious since I’m investigating this heart button for my personal case study now..

I used it as a sort of ‘add to library’, my frustration now is I would like to look through a playlist and see that everything is in my library (liked songs).

I used to be able to do this very easily but now the only way to know is by searching each individually which is a nightmare.

However, I believe that maintaining both icons (heart and green tick) would provide better transparency in managing our saved songs and playlists. This functionality was not only convenient but also essential for many users who manage their music libraries carefully.

Given the negative impact these changes have had on my experience, I have started exploring alternatives on other music streaming platforms that offer similar features. For example:

• Apple Music: This platform maintains a clear system for managing saved songs with heart icons that allow users to quickly identify their favorite songs. Additionally, integration with Apple devices and the iCloud library provides a cohesive user experience.

• Tidal: Offers high sound quality and a user interface that allows efficient management of playlists and saved songs, with clear "Like" options and visual markers.

• Amazon Music: Provides a simple user experience with intuitive icons for adding songs to playlists or personal libraries, allowing for easy identification of favorite songs.

• YouTube Music: Although it works differently, it allows users to mark songs and playlists as "liked" and offers recommendations based on these interactions.

I appreciate the hard work the Spotify team puts into continuously improving the platform. However, I suggest that user feedback on these recent changes be considered, and that the possibility of re-implementing an interface that includes both the heart and green tick icons be explored for a better user experience.

i left spotify because of this stupid change a year ago. got back on spotify yesterday cause no other platform had this large music collection or recommendation algorithm, unfortunately they didn't revert this even after all the votes**bleep** got. Now all i can do is beg and plead. please bring the **bleep**ing heart button back. i add songs to playlist all the time but it was hearted songs on playlist that let me know it's the absolute favorites for a specific theme of songs on the playlist

Right now I´m using Spotify web and I must add that the this actually works now is totally ridiculous 😀 Working in IT industry I can say that it´s UI design gone quite wrong with this thing. Even though I´m sure Spotify has hundreds or thousands of UI designers. 

How can it be that you have "add to liked songs "  in the UI but after pressing it doesn´t anyway indicate have you pressed it? It´s like having machine with on/off button and you actually can not know is it on or not. 

It´s against all logic and UI design principles. Or is there some market logic behind this that we just can´t understand. 

I also think the Spotify recommendations for me are not as good as they should be. I have given you quite lot of information which songs:

a. Are good enough I have added to my own playlists.  Not some AI motor generated playlist. These are also albums and artists I would check later are they good for categories b or c. 

b. Are good enough that I have marked them as liked  (these songs are much better than average) 

c. Are so good that I have downloaded them (just so I can at see which are the best songs)

So with all this information I have given you I don´t think the playlist recommendations are that good. I would be interested to know is the recommendation functionality even able to take into account which songs I have liked ? Or is it purely recommending the songs from category a - the songs that are on my playlist? 

Anyway if the recommendation functionality has technical difficulties taking into account all the songs each user has liked maybe this is the reason Spotify is trying to downgrade/hide this functionality ?? There must be some reason because it´s bad UI design how it now works. 

The previous commentor begged Spotify to fix this. As a user at this point I would insist you to do at least something. Hello Spotify ?  Even answer something to these comments. That´s how other software communities work. Customers ask somehing and the company responds. Also as stock owner I would insist Spotify to do something to this illogical UI.

This was amazing while in a playlist to see which song you already know and like. Now you can't see it anymore, its been months, its such a pain to navigate playlists now. I want to be able to easily queue up my best tunes ffs !

I wanted to give this a try on the TV app so I tried adding a song to a playlist using the + (Plus) feature. It just doesn't work. Just please return the heart button; it's super intuitive while the plus feature doesn't help at all.
