[Car Thing][Developer] SDK for Spotify Car Thing

Hi Team,

Car thing is very nice piece of hardware, specially the controls. I am sad to see it going away. I want to ask the team to release an SDK for it, so the homebrew developers can keep it alive for longer. Please consider it before killing the device support.

Okay after doing some research I think I know my course of action. I have been a spotify premium member for well over a decade.

but i'm done with this company if we don't get any refund or support for open source. There are plenty of other options out there and it's easy enough to transfer my playlists. 

I will just vote with my wallet.. Thanks for nothing, Spotify.

Releasing the SDK would be a great idea! Allow us to tinker with car thing and extend it’s usefulness. It’s the least you could do after we PAID to beta test this for you. **bleep** how about a few free months of service or something?

I’m in Australia where “hey Spotify” isn’t even available. Works flawlessly on my car thing and removes distraction while driving. I’ll likely need to cancel and change to a service that’s voice assistant compatible on Apple devices after car thing is bricked and deemed e waste.

Even though the car thing wasn't a huge success, many people including myself still use car thing daily, bricking people's devices doesn't seem like the way forward. Everyone would appreciate this compassion from Spotify in my opinion.

Seems more ideal to release the sdk than the users shipping them back to Spotify for disposal.
