[Connect] Multiple Speakers / Devices simultaneously

Now that connect is becoming available it would be nice to be able to connect to multiple outputs at the same time. For example I have 2 connect compatable speakers... it'd be great to have these in different parts of my house and be able to stream the same music to both.

I would suggest a maximum of 3 devices at the same time. This will allow for most scenarios to be catered for without streatching the bandwidth too much that it will degrade quality.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We've discussed this idea and while it is interesting, we aren't able to prioritize it and don't have any immediate plans to implement this. We will let you know if this changes in the future.

If we do have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

More info on why your idea has been closed can be found here.

It would be so very neat. Imaging you are driving home the same time als your partner sharing the same music. Even befor you meet at home, you have already connected through Spotifys connect service. 🙂

I was able to do this with my logitech squeezebox. I want to convert to Spotify, but first need this feature.

This subject was postend 9 months ago, and nothing has happend and as far as i can see , Spotify is not responding. I think it has no priority ? Other streaming services like Napster supports simultaniously use of devices.

So Spotify has launched this feature in August (http://www.slashgear.com/spotify-connect-adds-more-speakers-plus-multi-room-27342996/ ), but I can't get it to work. I bought an additional Pioneer SMA speaker based on the beforementioned article, but selecting another speaker in the iOS app just results in switching from speaker to speaker.

It seems that it does not work on legacy Spotify Connect speakers... or will Pioneer have to release new firmware in order for Spotify to connect to two speakers?

You could also follow the same business model as Netflix. They charge 6.99 for 1 TV, 7.99 for 2 TV plus HD and 11.99 for 4 TVs + HD.

To me, that is a game changer. I have 3 tv's at my house, and it is unfeasible to buy three subscriptions to be able to let everyone watch what they want.

Here is an example with Spotify. I am not giving up my subscription on spotify. However, my 4yo daughter has a tablet with spotify. It is aggravating not being able to listen to my music on the go because she is listening to it at home. My options here are: One, download the music and listen offline, which sucks. Two, make a different free account for her, which sucks even more.

So charging a bit more for 2 and 4 devices seems like a win/win strategy.

Personally I would already be happy if I could stream the same song to multiple speakers (located throughout my apartment, or in the same room even). Anyone any insights of Spotify Connect will support this with 'legacy' (a year old) Spotify Connect speakers?

I have the Samsung Shape speaker, which works great via WiFi or Bluetooth, and have it setup as another Connect device but as everyone else is posting would love to play multiple speakers.  I could buy the Samsung Shape hub but for now I just want to use my existing speakers, bluetooth, computer, Airplay Yamaha receiver and Samsung, to play at the same time. Can't believe there is no comment from Spotify!

I will be one to say it Spotify you have 30 days to enable at least 2 devices streaming at one time or else i will simply stop paying for your service. I will remind you that you are part of an unbeliveablely competitive business, I love your service but hate your restrictions. I love that you offer an incrediable kbps stream since I bought the beats studio wireless headphones but I will not get robbed for your service lets be honest all music can be downloaded for free so $10 a month is a bit much for a libray of 20 million songs tpb has more for free. if you want my business to continue make your service reasonable for god sakes you already charge more than netflix and you dont even have the videos!!! Even apple has sad $10 a month is to much a month for a music service so enable additonial devices to make it worth my while...

Just bought a Raumfeld system with different speakers and stupidly assumed that this feater is already available (as this is possible for all other music sources)... Defenitely want this! Now I have constantly change between Kitchen and living room.

So, thumbs uf for implementing this idea!!!!

My problem is when my fiancée is at home she cannot listen to Spotify while I am listening to it at work on my laptop. We end up fighting over whom can use it and we are not willing to pay an extra £9.99 a month just for the odd occasion this problem crops up. There are many other streaming services out there you can stream to more than one device at a time. I understand that this could be taken advantage of by people sharing their subscription so maybe increase the limit to two devices? It would benefit a lot of customers especially catering to family users and may stop people moving to competing services.

Anyone else agree?
